Where Are My Shed Keys?
I slept pretty darn good, and perhaps the best I have in the past several days. Comparatively speaking, I felt terrific! Once again, I was almost amazed at how much better my legs felt after feeling so stiff just before bed. Amazing what a good night’s sleep will do.
It was another lovely morning only this one was warmer than the one prior. It was 60 degrees. I could see where it must’ve rained ever so lightly through the night as there were scattered wet spots on the road and walks. I was happy for that. Nothing beats overnight rain giving way to clearing skies and warm temps at daybreak.
I delivered Mindy’s coffee around 6:10am, just like I generally do. She was slow to wake, probably a victim of the crude! She eventually woke and thanked me for the room service. I returned downstairs to continue on with my day. I read the Daily OM, checked email, and did my morning meditation. I stretched a little too, but I wasn’t nearly as achy as many mornings past. Yahoo!
I prepped and left for a run around 6:35am. Keeping with my commitment to thy self, I trimmed the final leg off of my run changing the distance to about three miles. I felt good as I finished. Mindy was at about the same part of her routine as she was the day before. I took part in some fruit awaiting my eggs. In fact, I ended up finishing the cooking so she could prep and ultimately leave. The eggs were delicious. Jacob had some, too.
Mindy soon left and Jacob took to playing Wii. I headed off to the shower. We departed for the bus stop at 7:55am. As usual, we greeted Pat & Alanna. Where’s the school year gone? It’s just about over – 3 more weeks. Seems we just began this ritual a few short weeks ago. We chatted only briefly. Pat must’ve had an early appointment. I left for the office at 8:10am.
Work was busy, but I still managed to escape for lunch. I drove up Sawmill where I stopped in Pier 1 and then got gas. I expected gas to be about $3.80 after yesterday’s large increase per barrel, plus it was price hike Tuesday. I was pleasantly surprised to get it for $3.38. Sad isn’t it?
I was back at the office around 2pm. I immediately ate my packed lunch while digging back into work. The rest of the day proved busier than the first half. I left for home at 5:30pm. I chose to take the back way after seeing I-270 backing up to Tuttle Pkwy. But in an odd turn of events, the back way probably took even longer. Looked like a wreck on Old Dublin Rd between Fishinger and the Scioto Darby curve. Traffic standing still, I thought I’d be slick and cut through the Glen dumping out at the light at Old Dublin and Scioto Darby. Oops! Another back-up. Traffic was backed up in the Glen for about a half mile – no kidding!
I didn’t get home until 6:10pm. Even then, Mindy still wasn’t home. She was working late at school in an effort to close out her school year by next Tuesday. She’s almost in panic mode. She promised to pick-up a pizza on her way home. I didn’t expect her until 7pm ish.
I walked Ykraps after allowing him out of his pen. I purposefully left him there since he had diarrhea the night before. Didn’t want to risk a mess upon arriving home. Nothing like arriving home to a puddle of dog crap!
As soon as I got back from our walk I changed into my yard grubbies and got to spreading mulch. Kenny stopped over to ask a couple questions about wave petunias. More specifically, how far apart to plant ‘em. He and Crissy were heading out to pick some up yet this evening.
I began spreading the remaining mulch around the east front flower beds and the white pine. I had just a half a John Deere trailer load left afterwards. I dumped that in one of the big beds out front. It was now obvious that I would need yet another trailer full. I figured I might be able to get by with one more cubic yard. Jimaken arrived home with Jacob while I was working away. He went in and assisted Jacob with his homework. That was nice of him! Mindy arrived home after Jimaken left. She had the pizza in tow. I took the time to put away all of my tools and tractor before going in to eat. But I was hungry!
After a quick shower I realized that I just did the unthinkable. I locked one of my shed keys in the shed, and I didn’t have a spare. Crap! I am getting so old! I even told myself not to drive the tractor in without grabbing my keys from the drink holder. Despite telling myself as much, I did it anyhow. Double crap! In a bit of a panic, I tried talking Bella into crawling into the door as I pulled it out as far as I could with the top being locked. She 100% refused citing spiders and dark. Even after pleading she still refused. I was frustrated but certainly understood her feelings. Turned out, I was able to dismantled the slide bar allowing me access. I retrieved the keys then reinstalled the slide bar and top lock. Problem avoided. Note to self – get spare keys made!
Inside I tucked in the kids. Helping Mindy, I gave the kids their allergy meds, too. She asked if I would sit with her for a few before she darted off to bed. She headed up around 9pm. I stayed another hour watching two full episodes of Family Guy.
