What I can - When I can

I didn’t sleep as soundly as I did Friday night but good just the same. I woke and took some Advil around 6am to help curb any ass pain. I got up for good by 7:50am and headed downstairs to begin my day. I prepped the day’s coffee and then checked in with work. Things were fairly quiet. I proceeded to whip out my exercise regiment. The weather, like predicted, had gone downhill overnight. It was raining and a bit windy – a far cry from the lovely Saturday we enjoyed. Good thing I got the grass cut yesterday. Ykraps and I walked in the spitting rain. The creek/pond was quite swollen, washing away a lot of built up debris. Finally back home, I was anxious for my morning coffee. I settled down in front of my laptop with my coffee in hand. There was an issue requiring my intervention for the next couple of hours. I worked while Mindy and the kids slowly prepared for church. I was dressed and ready for my run at 10am. I figured that I’d head out about the same time that Mindy and the kids left. However, soon after they left, a thunderstorm rolled through with heavy rain, lightning and thunder. A check of the radar revealed a partial clearing about 45 minutes out. I bet the ranch on it stopping long enough to complete my run. I waited. Sure enough, by 11am the rain had all but stopped. I headed out. I even saw a few openings of blue sky off in the distance. And as luck would have it, I stayed dry through my entire run. I inspected the landscape afterwards checking to see how my fresh plantings were holding up. Appeared good. The heavy rains did a good job of watering everything in. Back inside I worked for the next couple of hours. I wasn’t bothered by it. The weather was not being kind. Even though we got a quick burst of sunshine, the dark black clouds returned, and this time with a surprise tornado warming. That’s right – an actual warning! And because Hilliard/Upper Arlington were mentioned in the path, Mindy sent the kids to the basement. It never did get nasty at our house. The wind blew a little but nothing close to tornado winds. But I must admit, the clouds looked pretty ominous. The afternoon was winding down. It was 3pm before I knew it. As productive as I was on Saturday, I was the opposite today, at least relative to home. I decided to take a much needed nap. I used the heated massage pillow too. The next thing I knew, I woke up and it was 3:40pm. I figured I’d better get moving towards a shower. I was ready to leave for Gloria’s by 4:10pm. We loaded up the Trooper with Bella’s bike, Jacob’s scooter, and a few Mother’s Day gifts. We arrived just before 4:30pm. We visited with everyone for the next 45 minutes. Dinner was served a little later than usual. We had lasagna, one of my favorites. Of course, when Gloria makes lasagna, she makes garlic bread and salad, too. Everything was exceptional. For dessert, I was hoping for chocolate pie but that wasn’t the case. I’ve got to get that recipe. It was Someone’s birthday. We had one of their favorites – lemon cheesecake. I like that too. We left for home just after 7pm. As he often does, Jacob asked to walk Ykraps with me. He rode on his scooter. He’s gotten quite adept at riding that thing, I noticed. I’ll bet that he’ll catch on to riding his bike much easier now. It’s always seemed to be a balance issue. We’ll soon see. After our walk Mindy got the kids into jammies and then into bed quickly. They were in bed by 8pm for the first time in a while. Good thing, too. We were both tired as well. While Mindy toiled on her laptop and then folded a load of laundry, I snuck another nap. At 8:45pm I told Mindy that I was going to bed. She followed. Lights out even before 9pm.
