Lord, Just Get Me Through It
It was a very dreary morning. It was even cooler than Monday. More importantly, it was raining, but thankfully only lightly. It was also trash day, so I pulled the can to the curb & placed it between our two vehicles, which were both parked curbside for a change. I did that immediately after walking Ykraps.
Come run time, I contemplated switching back to my most recently retired running shoes so not to get my new pair soaked but ultimately decided against it. I was careful not to run through any deep puddles in an effort to keep my new treads dry. Thankfully, the morning sky began to brighten as I completed my run.
Looking ahead, the forecast calls for much of the same through about Thursday now. Originally, Wednesday was supposed to be the day that things began improving dramatically. I won’t hold my breath. Rumor has it, we’ll be in the 80’s come the weekend. Just in time for Memorial Day. Hmm? Today was supposed to be the worst of it. Originally, the high was only expected to hit 58. I remember thinking, Lord, just get me through the next couple of days.
Bella was staying home with her momma today. Jacob and I left for the bus at our usual time. I complained about the weather once again. Nothing new! Lucky for us, after the rain moved past, the sky cleared almost completely, at least for a while. Any even though it was still kind of chilly, it was really quite lovely.
I worked hard all morning long. I took my lunch and headed to Home Depot and then to Lowe’s. I wanted to scope out flower-pot plants and yard drainage systems. Home Depot had everything I needed to install a drain in our yard. It was much less expensive than I thought it might be. I bought everything we’d need for less than $20. I also looked at plants but didn’t find what I was looking for.
Back at work the afternoon moved swiftly. Mindy asked that I pick-up KFC on my way home. Not my favorite, but it’s what Jacob wanted. I obliged him. Meanwhile, I was expecting another busy evening at home. After dinner, I was planning to run Bella to dance. But by the time I got home she decided that she didn’t want to go. We didn’t force the issue since she hadn’t seen much of us the last week. However, I still had to run her back to Gloria’s. She was spending the night once again to help make Mindy’s life a little easier. I ran her over there around 7:15pm. I stopped at Value City Furniture in Great Western on my way home after learning that they finally had the TV stand in stock that we found on the web two months ago. I thought that I’d surprise Mindy and get it. However, when I got there and looked it over really good, I didn’t like it so much. I opted out last minute. It just looked too cheap!
Jacob was in bed by the time I returned. Mindy and I went to bed early again. We watched the final round of American Idol competition from bed. Fell asleep immediately after.
