Minor Miracle

Up at 530am like clock work and feeling rather good. I whipped out my sit-ups and push-ups then did one round of curls (40) with my 25lb barbells even though today’s wasn't a scheduled lifting day. In preparation for my morning walk with Ykraps I bundled up in my Columbia parka, gloves, and hat. I was very comfortable despite the cold. I can’t speak for Ykraps but given his lackadaisical gate, I have to assume he was comfortable and warm too. Back at home the coffee was smelling mighty good. I couldn’t wait for that first gulp. As a bonding experience, I poured a little coffee into Ykraps water bowl to see if he wanted to try it out. He did. And to my surprise, he liked it! I have a coffee drinking buddy now! Later in the day, however, I realized that him drinking coffee probably wasn’t a good idea. But it’s not what you think. He didn’t lose control of his bowels or anything like that, although he did go four times later that evening. No sir. What he did do was clean his crate from top to bottom. I think it had him bouncing off the walls. He even cleaned all of his toys. After some meditation, I packed my lunch and made some eggs. I still had plenty of spare time so I downloaded some pictures while enjoying my breakfast at the PC. At 710 I hit the shower and dressed for work. I’ve found that it’s better to dress after the shower that way my clothes don’t get too wet. I was ready by 730am. I still took a few minutes to play guitar and water my tree before leaving for work. I tried to tidy up a bit too so that there would little if anything to do later that night. At work the morning was fairly manageable. In fact, so much so that I was able to address some proactive requirements. As sure as it is winter, run time rolled around quickly. Once again I bundled up in three light layers and was very comfortable. After my run I returned for some afternoon nourishment. Today was tuna day, along with my usual five veggie salad and fruit. I was hoping to leave work perhaps a half-hour early but almost eerily, I was held up just like the day prior. Tonight’s plan called for me to be at Mindy’s by 6pm with Lindsey and my grandson Rocky. And on the way, I was supposed to pick-up Burger King for everyone. I didn’t leave the office until 520pm which put a little crimp in the timeline, but nothing too significant. I was home by 532pm and walking Ykraps and tending to a few necessary chores. In short order I was back on the road on my way to Kelly’s to pick-up Lindsey and Rocky. And as if right on queue, the snow started coming down heavily. The forecast predicted 6pm. Not bad! Good job, Jym Ganahl. In the short amount of time it took me to get out of my subdivision, the snow had began reeking havoc on the roads. It was coming down really hard. I was just a little stressed given the entirety of the situation. I called Mindy to let her know that I’d be a bit late. In her usual calming way, she was very understanding. By the time I got to Kelly’s the roads were a total mess. But despite the conditions, we moved forward with our plan. Soon I had Lindsey and lil’ Rocky aboard the good ship Trooper! Next stop, the Hilliard Burger King. We back tracked across the Westside of town to Trabue then headed directly west towards Mindy’s and Burger King. On our way we encountered a couple major traffic snarrels. The biggest of which was a UPS truck jack-knifed in our lane bringing west bound traffic to a stand still. After we made it past the delivery king’s minor mishap we had smooth sailing - slow but smooth. At Burger King we placed an order to feed 6 folks; Me, Mindy, Lindsey, Jacob, Bella, and Lil’ Rocky. In fact, we spent $24! Now that’s funny right there! Finally, we were on our way to Mindy’s. Mindy was awesome. She had thoughtfully cleared a bay in her three car garage just for us so that we could park inside. That would prove valuable given the inclement weather. I think that all of us were a little nervous with the meet and greet thing. However, despite my apprehension, the meet and greet went great. Lindsey was fine, happy, and pleasant. And Lil’ Rocky was a happy little boy for the first time ever, at least in my presence. Miracle! All of the kids got along nicely too. Mindy was a real sweetheart to say the least. She presented Lil’ Rocky with a gift to break the ice. It worked like magic. He was a happy little camper to be sure. He ran around her house like a wild lndian. Lindsey enjoyed herself too. Come 9pm we wrapped up and Lindsey and I left. I had her and Lil’ Rocky home by 920pm and I was home by about 930pm. I spent the next 1.5 hrs updating my blog and playing guitar. I didn’t have much time for anything else. I was really tired. Just before heading to bed, Lindsey called to thank me once gain and to ensure that I pass the same onto Mindy. She also reminded me that she loved me – something you don’t hear from Lindsey everyday. I was in bed before 11pm – Wahoo! Mindy, you’re my princess!
