I'm in Complete Control ...
Hampered by just 5 hours sleep, I woke a little late this morning. I didn’t get out of bed until 610am. Nevertheless, I made the decision to carry on with my morning as if I had all the time in the world. And if you think about it for a minute, we do have all the time in the world. We have available to us all the time there is. Instead it’s how we chose to use it that’s up for debate. Today I was willing to trade the meager reward of being in my office before 8am for the peace and tranquility of a leisure morning full of joy. J
To that end, I went about my exercises with a fervor like never before (OK, that’s a bit of an exaggeration). Shortly, Ykraps and I were out and about walking the dangerous streets of Scioto Woods. Dangerous not for the crime, but instead for the icy spots! We did out there what we set out to do-do (and yes, I’m on a roll)! Carefully, we finished our walk.
Upon our return we made ourselves a cup of coffee. Mini-me’s was not that strong so there’s little reason to be worried. Next, we lit some candles, dimmed the lights, then quietly meditated for a good 15 minutes. It was very soothing and uplifting! A look at the clock indicated that I would normally be in the shower, but I had already committed to doing no clock watching but instead going about my morning in a leisurely way for the greater good of the day in its entirety. Nobody wants to deal with an anxious and frustrated Jimmy, including me!
Packing my lunch was next on the agenda along with making some eggs. Today I had scrambled eggs along with my morning fruit. Come a quarter till eight or there abouts I headed upstairs to shower, dress, and groom. And before I left the house I made sure everything was in its place and even spent a little time with my guitar. Still, with my slow morning pace, I arrived to work around 830 or so. But instead of feeling hurried and stressed, I was feeling like a billion dollars, which translates into positive output – of course!
Come run time I was eager to hit the great outdoors and did. And even though it was cold and breezy, I enjoyed the run.
I spent the afternoon writing/editing annual performance reviews for my team of engineers. Come 5pm, I was ready to hit it! And hit it I did. I was home in record setting time. I got there at 520pm. And by 530pm I had already walked Ykraps, prepped my coffee, and rinsed my lunch dishes. I spent the next 20 minutes shoveling my drive and walk-again. We had accumulated another ½ inch or so of snow and I wanted to keep my drive and walks clear before any ice could form. While finishing up, Mindy pulled up. We were spending another Wednesday evening together, as we often do. Tonight I was cooking dinner. I made broiled boneless/skinless chicken breast, cream of chicken and noodles, and broccoli and cauliflower covered in cheese sauce. It turned out pretty good! I drove Mindy insane by setting off the smoke detector, however. The drippings from the last cheesecake I made were still in the bottom of my oven and they always smoke and cause the alarm to trigger. I often forget to place a pan or foil under the first cheesecake of the year. I really need to do the self cleaning thing soon
Mindy was bad and stayed till almost 10pm. I guess she just couldn’t stand leaving me! :) After she departed I invested the next 45 minutes into more reading, something I’ve neglected, yet still love. I did that till my eyes were beyond heavy. I was in bed before 11pm.
