Breathe ...

Brittany, Ashley's best friend Ashley being ... Ashley I woke up a little late, somewhere around 6am, not because I missed my internal wake up call but instead because I felt like slacking a little. I was in a bouncy good mood for remembering I would have the following day, Friday off. In essence, this was my Friday. My morning routine went much like the rest and I took a similar approach to the one I took the day prior. I took my dear old time. Why? Because I'm worth it! My goals for the work day were simple. Complete one more edit of my team's performance reviews then submit them electronically for my boss' enjoyment. My run was a sloppy one. It was snowing at a good clip on the way out but the air temp was above freezing so what was already on the ground was wet and slushy, and I fling snow when I run. Needless to say, I was soaked upon my return. I knew then that my running shoes would be relegated to the register vent when I got home. Finally the end of the day came and I left feeling great! Again, I would be off on Friday and I would be doing a little pre-power shopping tonight to get in the mood for Friday's frenzy! Secretly too, I figured I'd stop at Barley's and enjoy a couple of brews. But before any of this would happen, I had to head home and do a guitar lesson with Josh and then visit briefly with daughter number three, Ashley. Josh arrived about 20 minutes late but had called to inform me of his tardiness. It gave me time to warm up. He brought another Pink Floyd song to learn, Breathe - a real beauty of a song. It's not exactly an accoustic type song but I love the licks! Just as Josh and I were wrapping up, Ashley pulled up along with her gal pal Brittany. Ashley reported having a bad day and needed some time out with Brittany, and some daddy time. I think there are some boy issues going on. In fact, I know there were, but she spared me the details. Somehow I don't think I would've been all too happy with Steven. Nonetheless our visit went well. She's doing well at her new job but doesn't get paid until January the 9th so she bummed afew bucks off me. She also asked if I were gonna give her the cell phone back since she's working and back in school. Nope, don't think so, and certainly not till she shows some level of heightened responsibility (I.E. good grades - continued employment). They were only at my home for about half an hour. When they departed, I readied for Xmas shopping. I went to Lennox with the idea of hitting Target and Old Navy. After spending and handful of cash, I was done and wanted a beer. So to Barley's I went. There were only two other patrons at the bar and they left about 45 minutes after I arrived leaving me as the lone patron. I enjoyed two beers and a Cuban (great sandwich by the way). Not sure what time it was when I left for home but it wasn't too late. Probably 10ish. When I got home I blogged then went to bed. Song Of The Day: Breathe, Pink Floyd Breathe, breathe in the air Don't be afraid to care Leave but don't leave me Look around and chose your own ground For long you live and high you fly And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry And all you touch and all you see Is all your life will ever be Run, run rabbit run Dig that hole, forget the sun, And when at last the work is done Don't sit down it's time to dig another one For long you live and high you fly But only if you ride the tide And balanced on the biggest wave You race toward an early grave.
