Practice what you preach, Jim

Perhaps some calming picture will help!!! Got up this morning ready to take on the world. Everything was going hunky dory. I went through my normal routine in preparation for work, but just before I went to hop in my car I decided to check the status of my hot tub repairs real quick. This would be the telling inspection of the additional $277 I just spent to have them replace the suspected leaky light kit. Well, guess what? Chicken Butt! Hot tub still leaks! SHIT, SHIT, SHIT!!!!! I let the bad news impact my entire day too. It really pissed me off. I even knixed the idea of driving my BM’er to work lat minute. I allowed the frustration to set the tone for my entire day! Bad Jimmy. Work, of course, was hectic! Dah! I'm not surprised. Are you? Everything I touched had a negative spin. My run was sorely needed. I ran a little faster than normal and broke into a good sweat. It was exactly 80 degrees when I left for my run again. That made three days in a row. Shoot, it was beginning to seem like Ground Hogs Day in September. I needed to leave work on time today to make my guitar lesson at 6PM. But, as luck would have it, I got stuck on an escalation that kept me there until 530PM. Boy was I stressing! Remember, I don't like to be rushed and for good reason. I don't deal with it well. It drives me crazy. It's as if I've lost controI, and most people that know me know that I am a bit of a control freak. Despite the delay and the self inflicted pressure I made it home in time, and to top it off, my instructor called and said he was caught up in Riverside Drive rush hour traffic and would be late too. But I was already so stressed inside. You know the kinda stress you can feel in your bones? I was on edge and in a bad mood. I tried to relax before he arrived. It only half worked. Again, bad Jimmy!!!! When he arrived we agreed to have a beer before we jumped into my first lesson. After all, this should be fun - right? That made a big difference and my mood began to lightened. The lesson was fun and uplifting. He showed me a few riffs and gave me some stuff to study before the next time. Furthemore, he invited me to come watch his band this Friday night at the Columbus Blues Station. I may go after a planned first date and a quick trip to Barley's. Maybe! After my lesson and a few household chores, I got in my still leaking hot tub. Despite the leak, it was very relaxing! Oh yeah, it was show me where your momma lives - good! After hot tubbing, I settled in and watched some of the NFL opener – Patriots vs. Raiders. Randy Moss caught a first half touchdown pass, but dropped a couple other key passes and was largely a non-factor after halftime. Admittedly, however, I fell asleep before it was over. The Raiders lost. Shoot. Poor Randy!!!! :) But hey, something really positive and exciting did happen for me at work Thursday that I forgot to share earlier. I won the ebay bidding for Viking/Bengals tickets right on the 50 yard line!!!! Wahoo!!!!!
