Mindy, OSU's Linebackers, My backyard...

...Things that look stunning!!! Perhaps one of the coolest thunderstorms of the season occurred during the early morning hours Saturday. It had all the ingredients: heavy rain, continuous lightning, and booming thunder. I find it a bit ironic that we hadn’t had any memorable thunder storms this summer and now that autumn is here we finally got one. Literally, I don't recall any lightning & thunder even close to this magnitude all summer long. Don’t you just love sleeping through thunder storms? I do. Although I don’t think Sparky feels the same. Given his druthers, I am certain that he would have preferred to ride out the storm in bed with me. I didn't let him in. It was near 710am when I finally got out of bed. And because of the storm it was barely light outside. My first task was to make some coffee since I didn’t prep it the night before. I don't because I never know for certain what time I am going to rise on a weekend day. Instead. I get up when I feel rested and inspired to do so. So there! I completed my normal workout routine before walking Sparky. And by the time I finished and leashed up Sparky the rain had all but subsided, making an umbrella unnecessary. It was an enjoyable walk. And by the looks of the yard side stream, we must have gotten quite a bit of rain. By the time Sparky and I returned my coffee was ready. I had two quick cups. In the mean time, it started raining fairly heavily again. Now I'm never one to avoid running because of a little rain, but given that the radar looked like it might let up in about 1/2 hr I decided to wait a few. I waited till 9AM. By then it had all but stopped, leaving just a light sprinkle. I enjoy running in a light rain and that was exactly what it was like. There were a few claps of thunder, but they were off in the distance and well to the east of me, so I knew that they posed no threat. Upon my return I made my breakfast (sausage and eggs),read some email, and published my Friday Blog entry. Sometime around 11AM I gave Mindy a call to firm our plans for dinner. I was looking forward to driving the BM'er but the weather forecast didn’t look to good, so I took a wait and see attitude. Mindy pointed out that she's now found two of her friends that know me. One happens to be an old neighbor of mine and the other is a former Time Warner friend. In addition to these two characters, her brother in-law and I graduated together. And if that’s not enough, she also knows Connie Hedges, the owner of the Hilltop Swim Club. As it turns out, we know quite a few of the same folks. Noon came around fairly quickly and that meant it was time for Buckeye football. I made the most of the early kick off and worked on household chores while watching the blowout unfold. I accomplished quite a bit too. I washed all of my bedding, vacuumed the entire house, ran the dishwasher, and scrubbed the shower in the master bath. Man, I am good! After the game (Buckeyes won 31-6) I headed out to pick-up a few things, including some flowers for Mindy and some Black Dog Honey Raspberry Ale for me. And because the weather had improved significantly, I drove the BM'er. And a fun drive it was through the winding roads of Upper Arlington. I spent the rest of the afternoon finishing off some chores and then getting ready for our date. We had dinner reservations at Tucci's in Dublin for 745pm. I headed out the door to pick up Mindy around 640pm. She lives in West Hilliard and as it turned out, my timing was almost perfect. Again, I am good! I was at her house right at 7pm, just as we had planned. After meeting her two lovely children as well as her baby sitter, we were on our way to the restaurant by 720pm. We arrived at Tucci’s right on time. The evening was moderately warm so we really could have dined comfortably on their cozy patio, but we opted for an inside table instead. I failed to mention that Mindy looked pretty damn good in her little black dress! We began our diner with a glass of Shiraz, some crab cakes, and bruschetta, For the main course, the both of us ordered fillet mignon despite Tucci's reputable Italina menu. I guess our craving for beef outweighed the lure of their tempting Italian entrees. Everything was really delicious. The fillet and bruschetta were particularly good. We topped off the evening by sharing a piece of their chocolate silk pie. Before ending our date, we stopped off at my house for a little while where we shared some quiet conversation. I had her back at her house by 1110pm, pretty much as planned. Once back at home I snuggled up on the couch and tuned into Saturday Night Live (something I do very little of these days). Tonight's broadcast was a Will Ferrell compilation and it was so, so funny! Maybe one of the best I've ever seen! He's a fantastic comedian and just does a superior job in all sorts of different roles. Bob Imber and I had a 10am tee time scheduled at the Villages of Westchester for Sunday AM, so getting some sleep was a high priority. Consequently, I went to bed right after midnight.
