Finding space...

So this is what it is like to sleep till 9AM. That’s right! I slept till almost 9AM. I reckon I needed it or I wouldn’t have done it, right? I have been feeling a little extra tired in the mornings for a week or so and after a few beers last night, that was the proverbial icing on the cake. No worries! There was no reason to be rushed today. I didn’t have any morning deadlines. Rather, I simply had to get in my daily run. The rest was of the day was up in the air. I like that sometimes! I finished my run late by my standards, 11AM. Before I knew it, it was time to hit the shower and tune into some College football. My new friend, Mindy called while I was in the shower. I called her back shortly after I was done. We made plans to meet at Bob’s “Block Party” this evening. I’m looking forward to seeing her. I gave some serious contemplation to what I might take to the Block Party. I decided once again that I would simply purchase rather than make (a little out of character for me, but hey). I decided on Barley’s hot wings. I knew that they’d be quite the hit. After all, this is a Grandview crowd! I would take 40 wings and a jug of Barley’s IPA as well as a cooler full of assorted beers from my fridge (Sam Adams, Honey Raspberry Ale, and Budweiser). I left for Barley’s around 215PM prepared to be away for a better part of the early evening. I had remembered everything: my cooler, camera, phone, security lights, and Barley jug. Without giving it too much thought, I assumed that I’d be home no later than 8 or 9PM, which is probably why I didn’t even think about walking Sparky prior to leaving. Poor Sparky!!! I slept in on him this AM and now I was gonna make him hold it in for about 20 hours. Good thing I slept in! At Barley’s I ordered 40 wings (20 “Gates of Hell” & 20 “Texas Hot”) and a jug of IPA. I decided to have one beer with Diane who bartends on Saturday’s along with Monica. There was only one patron at the bar aside from me, Calvin, he’s a psychologist and is a very interesting conversationalist. His wife is African and he’s spent a number of years living abroad. He’s got some cool stories! I took a few pics, drank my beer, paid for my to-go order and was out the door. I arrived at Bob’s around 315PM or so. I was one of the first people there, but the clubhouse was already open. Within minutes, however, others began showing up. Before I knew it, the game had begun and the club house was all but full. There were lots of cool foods to try. That’s one great thing about “bring a dish” type parties. You get to try things you’d otherwise never make or see. Not certain exactly what time it was when Mindy arrived, but just as we’d planned, she called to tell me she was right around the corner, so I went out front to meet her. She’s never met my friends and I didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable. Her original plan was to stay for only an hour or two but I guess she couldn’t resist my company! J She stayed till around 1030 or so. We met some really cool people and exchanged lots of interesting dialogue ourselves. In fact, I learned a lot more about her that made her all the more interesting. The crowd began to thin and I snuck off for home around 11PM. I didn’t want to be sluggish tomorrow for the big game! I was home and in bed before midnight (notice no talk of walking poor Sparky)!
