Salty Caramels

Mix of sun and clouds, though mostly cloudy till about noon

Ran three miles.

Worked from home.

Mindy left to run errands fairly early in the day. She was gone for some time.

Cut the lawn at lunch. Mowed, trimmed, edged and blew.

Worked until 515pm.

Showered around 530pm with plans to meet Bob & Mary Ann at Woodlands Tavern Grandview around 8pm to see some quality local live music.

Left the house around 630pm.Gorgeous evening, by then completely clear and 72 degrees. Perfect evening! Expecting a full "strawberry" moon. It's said we won't have another strawberry moon on Friday the 13th until 2098.

Parked on NW just south of 3rd ave. Bob & Mary Ann not there yet. Mindy and I paled up with Barley peep, Josh, and also my former guitar instructor. Got a couple beers and found a table on the patio while a band played inside. We later learned that there were two stages inside, a paid stage and then the free music stage. The band playing with no cover was excellent, playing the likes of old Queen, Beatles, Paul McCartney and really well. Being a local musician, Josh knew most of them well.

Hungry, we eventually ordered a pizza. Bob & Mary Ann got there near 830ish. Prior to them showing up. a fella with an enormous telescope showed up on the patio to observe and share the strawberry moon. I enjoyed my brief conversation with him. Good to see Bob & Mary Ann. Don't see much of them outside of snow ski season these days. Turned out, there was a $10 cover to see the headliners on the paid stage, the Salty Caramels, who were having a CD release party. There was a warm-up band, too, the Dew Droppers. They had a 1940s swing sound about them, complete with a horn section. I really enjoyed them. Bob bought us one of the Salty Caramel CDs too. Thanks Bob! Bob did some printing for the band and they even gave him a big shout out early on during their show.

The Salty Caramels is a quartet of 4 girls that have a unique chici Lennon Sisters kind of sound though with a modern twist. I enjoyed it but not as much as the Dew Droppers. They did several songs off their new CD. Mindy was tired as it was near or after midnight in a hurry. Bob & Mary Ann walked with us out to our car. Mindy drove home.
