Father's Day with Dad, Two of Three, Three of Three, Six of Six
Can't recall the time when I rolled out of bed. Lindsey had to work so we agreed to watch the boys. She dropped them off around 8am.
The sky was overcast but little chance of rain. I enjoyed coffee and internet for an hour or so..I ran three miles and was back home before anyone else was up and stirring. All the girls, including Courtney, were supposed to be coming over later for a cookout. If they all made it, it would be the first Father's Day that I've spent with all three in perhaps as many as 15-16 years. Courtney hasn't been over for a visit in more than 2 years. However, we've seen her a time or two at Ashley's place for Olivia's birthday parties. My Dad and Tommy were coming over too. We also invited Charles via text though he hadn't responded.
In addition to it being the first time that all the girls were with me on Father's Day in 16 years, it would be the first time that all six of my grandchildren were over at the same time, too.
Once Mindy and the kids were up they gifted me for Father's Day. The kids got me a nice card and noise machine just like the one in our Cuyahoga Falls hotel room. Cool! Mindy gifted me tickets to see Lyle Lovett and the LC in mid August.
The day moved quickly. Can't recall what I did with the middle part of my day. Most not of done anything too significant. As 3pm neared, Mindy suggested I grill the burgers, brats and dogs early before our guests arrived that way we could spend our time visiting instead of grilling. We put all the cooked meat the oven and microwave.
Everybody was over near 3pm as planned: Ashley, Steven and Olivia, Kaileigh, Dad, Tommy & Wally, Courtney, Zach, Avery and Addison. First time all four paid a visit to our home, though all but Addison have been over past. Shortly after all the others arrived, brother Charles showed up. He didn't stay too long though. In fact, I am pretty sure that he left before we served food, though Mindy tried to feed him.
Lindsey showed up around 5pm. We had a nice time and everybody seemed to get along OK. Near 530pm Mindy organized a Father's recognition reception complete with cards and gifts. We passed out lottery tickets to all the father's. I don't think there were any winners, well other than me. :)
As always, all the kids had a grand time playing ball in the backyard. Everybody left before 7pm. Tommy & Wally were the last to leave. We tossed the baseball with Wally out front. After Tommy & Wally departed, Mindy and I trimmed the dead away from the evergreen shrubs out front. Got very sweaty in so doing.
After getting the house back in order we called it an early night. I was in bed before 10pm.
