I turned the power off on Saturday to install the new post lamp fixture. I had to turn-off three or four breakers until I got the right one. One of the breakers I tuned off fed our bedroom clocks. I had to reset the time in the middle of the night. I did my best to set it 3 hours and 12 minutes fast, just like it was prior. Don’t ask.
Based on my math, I woke near 535am. And once I was downstairs I learned that I was pretty much on target. I failed to prep the coffee maker the night before so I dealt with that first thing. Afterwards, I glance out back then slipped into my exercise shoes. It was still mostly cloudy but didn’t appear to have rained any more during the over night.
I completed sit-ups and push-ups with relative ease then waited a few more minutes for the coffee to finish. Near 555am I went to my PC to play for a while. Checked the weather. It was cloudy and 54 degrees, but the clouds were expected to thin through the day with the temp warming into the 70s. Even nicer weather through the work week. Yeah!
Played around online until 610am when I headed in the family room for mediation. I can’t recall if I stretched before or after delivering Mindy’s coffee. Oops! She asked that I extinguish the ceiling fan on my way out and back downstairs. It was just ahead of 640am when I headed out the door for my run wearing long running pants and the same shirt I wore the day before. I was comfortable throughout the 4.1 mile run. I missed the sunrise. Two days in a row of clouds is about all I can take.
Upon my return I immediately leashed up Eiknarf and headed out the door for our morning walk. We were out about five-ten minutes. Mindy was already prepping to leave when I got back inside. She told the kids to ride the bus home, but shared that she might be late picking up the boys from after school care. She also asked if I planned to meet them at the Spindler Rd soccer field for Jacob’s 6pm game. Yes, I did. She then shared that one of us would need to take Bella to gymnastics while the other took the boys home afterwards. No worries. I am darn glad Mindy keeps track of all this stuff. I would get lost in all the details.
Enjoyed my eggs then headed for a shower. I must’ve been pretty quick because I was back downstairs throwing together lunch by 755am. The kids and I headed for the bus at 808am. It was a dreary, gray morning. We had to navigate a sidewalk loaded with goose poop. Nasty! I wish we could do something to rid our place of them. Bus came by a few minutes early. Cool! Was back at home for last minute prep by 815am. I enjoyed another cup of coffee then loaded up my gear. I had to log off and power down my laptop too.
Left for work at 822am. I was settled in at work near 9am. I scrawled out a very busy/aggressive to-do list. Had 5 meetings/conference calls scheduled as well as several other tasks needing addressed. I also planned to take a lunch and visit Carter Lumber in Plain City. My last morning call ended around 1140am. Then after wrapping a few quick to-do’s I headed out for Carter’s. I Googled directions before leaving home. Simple, out Hayden Run Rd to Cosgray to 161 like heading to Indian Springs. Carter Lumber is only about a mile west of Cosgray Rd.
There, I wanted to pick-up 42’ linear feet of cedar lap siding cut into 6’ lengths to replace the composite wood siding that’s starting to rot on the front of our house. I asked if I could check it our first. They only had it in 12’ lengths. Said they’d cut it for me after paying. I headed back inside and paid for 44” (three 12’ and one 8’). Charged me something like $60. I put the rear seat down in the Accord. I used the beach towel I had in the Accord to protect the leather seats. The siding fit inside easily. I felt completely out of place at the lumber yard. I stuck out like a sore thumb to most other customers. Oh well!
I opted to hop on 33 and then 270 south to get back because I wanted to make a quick stop at the Mill Run Target too. There I planned to buy some red relief eye drops and some good dental floss. I got both of those items as well as some chewing gum for home and a small container of sea salted almonds. Back to the office. I was gone just over an hour, or by 120pm. I didn’t have another meeting until 230pm. That gave me time to enjoy my packed food.
Had to join a very unorganized call at 4pm. What a mess. Mindy called around 4pm or just as she was about to pick-up the boys reminding me about the soccer game. Asked if I wanted her to bring me a snack. No. I had my almonds. She planned to feed the boys and Bella before leaving for soccer. Said I’d eat my leftover gyro when we got home. Joked that she’d better not eat it.
Because the game didn’t start until 6pm, I worked until 540pm. I was slow getting out of the office and thought I’d be a few minutes late to the game. No biggie. Turned out, I made great time, arriving at Spindler field right at 6pm. But just like most of Jacob’s soccer games, they started a few minutes early. Mindy and the kids were already watching the action. I stood for the game’s entirety. The boys & Bella got restless and played soccer with a few other young kids there watching off to the side. Bella eventually bagged the soccer and played Barbies with a few girls about her age.
This was Jacob’s last regular season soccer game. They trailed the Worthington Crew 3-0 before scoring a goal of their own. The players argued some again but we largely overlooked it. It certainly wasn’t out of control like a couple weeks ago. And after losing four tournament games over the weekend, I am sure they were all frustrated.
Bella and I left for gymnastics with just a few minutes left in the game. The boys asked if they could ride with me but I had to refuse due to having the rear seat own and lumber in the back. Mindy had to give Rocky a talking to a few times over the pick-up soccer game, but mostly about letting Landon play too. Rocky’s overall behavior is noticeably improved. Dropped Bella right on time.
I arrived home around 708pm and a few minutes ahead of Mindy & Jacob. They dropped the boys by Lindsey’s before coming home. By then I was warming my gyro after adding some mozzarella cheese. It was good & filling. I had to use a knife and fork because it started falling apart.
Jacob wanted only yogurt. And of course he only wanted the raspberry yogurt Mindy supposedly bought for me. Once again Mindy said she didn’t really buy it for just for me and gave it to him anyway. I wasn’t thrilled about it at all. Don’t ask me if there’s anything special I want from the grocery if your gonna be turncoat on me.
After finishing my gyro I spent a while on my PC reading several headlines, and most of them negative. Around 815pm Mindy asked if I planned to go after Bella. Yes. I left at 820pm. Bella asked if we could stop at Wendy’s. No, not tonight. Once home I changed into my PJs then headed for the family room to watch some TV. I tuned into the Science channel watching Into the Universe, with Stephen Hawkings. Great stuff. I did a little reading at the same time, but eventually put the book down in favor of the TV program. Very interesting. Jacob wasn’t feeling well (hadn’t been all weekend) and went to bed even before 9pm. Bella and Mindy headed for bed just after 9pm. I had the downstairs all to myself. I like that a lot. I stayed up watching Science Channel until 1030pm. By then I could barely keep my eyes opened. Good night moon, where ever you are.
