Olivia and an Egg Hunt

Happy 11th Birthday Jacoby!!!

I got up around 8am after waking a couple other times near 6am not feelin' so well and fearing a hangover. Thank goodness I had enough foresight to choke down a few Advil before bed the night before. Aside from feeling a little groggy, I was fine. And after calisthenics and then walking Frankie, I felt even better.

It wasn’t that nice, about 52 and cloudy, though the clouds didn’t look too threatening. The forecast looked depressing. Cloudy and cool with a chance of rain anytime. I enjoyed coffee after I got back from walking Frankie. I took off on a run just after 930a. I ran just 3 miles, just like I do most other Saturdays.

The run went well. Home around 10am. Still cloudy and cool, but minus any rain. I decided to do a couple small chores. For starters and to get motivated, I headed to the garage where I transferred my golf clubs into my brand new cart bag. Secondly, I headed outside and used my hand held spreader to put down some Ortho ant and insect killer, focusing on the known mounds and then around the entire foundation. Next, I tested the textured spray paint I bought for touching up our deck table. Not a perfect match, but acceptable. Lastly, I topped off the hot tub.

We confirmed plans with Ashley to have Olivia overnight. Ashley said she’d bring her over after seeing a movie that afternoon. Mindy left for a Target run at some point, thinking it near 11am. Had to buy some baby gifts. After addressing my chores, I headed back inside where I spent an hour or two working on my blog. I hadn’t added any pictures for the past couple weeks due to a problem I was having with the Blogger editor. I finally figured it out. They released a new improved version and ever since, the older version that I’d been using for years stopped working correctly. It would still allow me to add photos but it would delete all of the embedded paragraph spacing, turning my blog entries into one giant mass of sentences.

While Mindy was away, I took a shower. Felt really good. Once she was back at home she made green bean casserole to take to the neighbors' Easter celebration slated for later that afternoon. I laid down for a nap around 3p.I might’ve drifted off for 10 minutes, but not much more. I’m guessing that it was near 330-4p when Mindy and I headed to the neighbors.

Kenny & Chrissy had a house full, and mostly folks we already knew. They served dinner earlier than usual, around 430p. Served Honey Baked ham as well as a host of sides, including Mindy’s green bean casserole. Chrissy headed out back to hide eggs for their Easter egg hunt, which she aid would start near 5p. Ashley called to let me know that she was on her way. I asked that she bring Olivia to Chrissy’s. I was out front walking Frankie when they pulled up. Olivia headed inside Chrissy’s while Ashley and I carried Olivia’s overnight gear back to our place. Ashley complained about her psoriasis. I guess its been acting up lately for some reason.

Ashley headed back home and I headed back to the neighbors. Chrissy was noticeably upset with one of Makayla’s friends parents. They apparently were supposed to bring her back home around 3p after going to the school carnival. It was now near 5p and they hadn’t heard a peep from her and the parents weren’t answering their phone, either.

Not wanting to keep all the wee ones waiting for the egg hunt, Chrissy started it without Makayla there. I helped Olivia. Chrissy said there were three golden eggs containing $20 each. Geesh. I hoped to find those. The wee ones were funny, walking right by the bright plastic eggs lying on the ground. Olivia must’ve collected 15-20 of them before it was all said and done, but sadly no money eggs. 

After the egg hunt, Kenny went to pick-up Makayla unannounced. That’s about the same time that I went to their livingroom sofa and took a brief nap. Hey, we’re close! I got up after lying down for about 30 minutes. At 630p I walked home to get a few beers. Up to that point I drank only water and soda. Said many times, I’ve never been one to like drinking alcohol during the day, unless of course we’re skiing. 

I brought back three beers: a CBC IPA, Southern Tier XXIPA, and a Hoppin’ Frog Mean Manaleshi. As planned, Jimaken brought Jacob and Bella home around 7p. Mindy went home to get the ice cream b-day cake she had made for Jacob. After all, this was his actual b-day. Jacob must’ve been embarrassed or something, because when Mindy lit the cake he dashed out the door. Mindy was none to pleased, having the candles lit and everybody gathered around to sing. She tore out after him. I heard many of the guests comment that they’ve never seen her that mad. I was a tad ashamed. When she came back inside she lit me up a little too.

She eventually calmed down and went back home after Jacob. They returned a few minutes later, and Mindy relit his cake and started the process over again. This time, however, Jacob sheepishly complied.

We hung out with the neighbors until almost 1030p. Everybody was tired including Olivia, who asked if we could go home. Cute. I made the mistake of pouring myself another beer thinking I’d be up to enjoy it. Not five minutes later I was dosing from the sofa. I put the beer in the fridge and headed to bed where Mindy was already sleeping.
