It's Rosh Hashanah My Sharona

Photo: Sunrise viewed from our backyard - Awesome!
I woke just a few minutes after 530am and completed sit-ups and push-ups within the first ten minutes of being downstairs. While pouring coffee I freed Frankie and took my Dexilant capsule. Frankie and I headed out back still before 6am. It was pitch dark under and slightly cool star filled September sky. Just splendid! I knew then that I’d be wearing long pants during my run. Back in the house, I sat for a few minutes enjoying the rest of my coffee before segueing into meditation and eventually stretching. Holy cow, 630am came around fast. I needed to get moving. I poured Mindy some coffee then took it and the pug up to our room. Mindy was still asleep in bed but woke as soon as we entered. Frankie was full of energy and excited to see her. I didn’t get out for my run until 640am. After seeing Carl's trash can at the curb, I was reminded that it was trash day. I toted ours around only to discover minutes later that the trash truck had already passed down our side of the street. Dang it! I was quite comfortable in my attire and felt terrific. In kind, my run went extremely well. I ran the full 4.1 mile track. I was back home by 720am. I was going to roll our trash can across the street so it could be picked up along with Carl’s. They do our side first and then across the street a couple hours later - almost last. Imagine my surprise when I discovered our trash can emptied. The City trash truck must have circled back to get our can. That was awesome! I passed him earlier while on my run. I always say hello and tip my hat. I can’t help but think my routine kindness had something to do with his kindness too. Inside the house I was quick to share the story with Mindy. She was as surprised as me. My eggs were already resting at my place at the table. I nestled in for breakfast – fried eggs and fruit. They were good. Just before leaving, Mindy reminded the kids to come home on the usual bus. I was off to the shower by 640am – about five minutes later than desired. I was ready just ahead of 755am. The kids hurried out the door while I scurried to get my shoes on and put away the breakfast fruit tray as well as the toaster. I was just a minute or so behind the kids. The bus arrived on time. Kenny and I chatted about the tree house design details. We walked back to the set posts to take some measurements. As expected, we’re gonna have to make it slightly larger than we originally planned. We had to have the exact figures before we could put together a real materials list. Sounds like the platform is gonna be 16X12’. That’s big! I left for work at 820am – slightly later than I prefer. I drove the BM’er. It was supposed to be a perfect September day with clear blue skies and temperatures in the 70’s. I arrived to work just a couple minutes late. Not an issue. I didn’t know it ahead of time, but my peer was scheduled off. It was just me, well, and my boss. We yucked it up for a few. I met with several of my team members informally throughout the day. I had periods in the day where I was extremely busy and then some rare down time. That felt good for a change. I called Jeff, the sales manager at Golf Galaxy, to inquire about my custom club fitting session. He was supposed to call me by last Wednesday. Because of my busy schedule last week I let it slide when I didn’t hear from him. Jeff was quick to apologize and accept blame for dropping the ball. Said he sent the email to the equipment guy while we were chatting. Would call me once the lefty fitting equipment comes in to schedule the appointment. For a while, I thought I might take lunch and head to Bestbuy to have the Invisi-Shield put on my new Droid X but never did take a formal lunch break. I must’ve talked with Mindy around 4pm to discuss dinner plans. This was a kidless Wednesday. We agreed on Barley’s. Why not? It’s my b-day week! I left the office right at 530pm and was home 20 minutes later. The kids, of course, were already gone. I needed only to freshen up and tend to a few other miscellaneous tasks. For one, I opened a bill from Dr Hoagland, a dentist I used at least 7 years ago and only once. What? I couldn’t wait to open it. Turns out, they sent a bill for a Jeremy Wright to me.  I sat it aside so I could call them tomorrow to let them know of the error. I knew they would appreciate it. I also had a packet from the Cleveland Institute of Electronics. I haven't heard from them in years either. I graduated from there back in the mid 80’s with an Electronics Diploma – my first taste of college course work, which I liked. They were canvassing for a possible return to acquire a more advanced degree. No thanks! We left for Barley’s at 610pm. There were plenty of parking spots. Janet was tending bar. We sat at a barside table after seeing no two stools available side-by-side. Calvin was sitting at one of the barsdie tables alone. We talked with him. I quickly ordered a fresh Centennial. It tasted amazing. Mindy started with only water but eventually ordered a Russian. We placed our food order next. Mindy ordered their meatloaf and I ordered 10 buffalo wings. Mindy talked with Jill at length. Came back to the table with a copy of her recently published children’s book. Can’t recall the name. I ordered a second Centennial just before our food arrived. The wings were good. Tasted a bit different than I expected. I’ve never once ordered my wings Barley’s buffalo style. It was very similar to their Gates of Hell sauce only with perhaps a bit less kick. I ate a few bites of Mindy’s mashed potatoes, too. Mindy picked up the check. We left around 730pm. We had to be home to intercept the kids by 8pm. We had plenty of time. We took Frankie out back once at home. She was having fun running around like a crazy dog. By design, there hasn’t been a lot of that since her surgery last Friday. The kids arrived home while we were all out back. Bella came running out to see us first. Jacob and Jim weren’t far behind but with a lot less pep.  As we all got settled, Bella got online to look at Halloween costumes from the site listed on the picture she found. She went right to the witch costume she found in that print add. They wanted $50 for it. Yikes! She was excited and bit quickly on their 'act now' tag! Said you could save $15 off the regular price of $65. We tried tempering her expectations. After all, you can typically get similar costumes at Wal-Mart for $15-20. But Bella would have none of it. She threw a fit and stormed off to her room in tears. Mindy asked me to deal with it. I happily agreed, but offered that I would let her cool down for a few minutes first. Always a good idea. But as it turned out, even I wasn’t savvy enough to help ease her mind much. n fact, she continued crying and threw me out of her room.  It was obvious she needed more time. I tried explaining that we would seek out a customer first at Wal-Mart, but if we truly couldn't find the perfect one, I would buy the one she found in that catalog. She kept citing the “act now’ tag. Geesh! Too funny! She eventually came to her senses and rejoined us downstairs for her bedtime snack. She even checked out the Wal-Mart costumes online and found some she liked almost as much. She also wanted to check out pet costumes for Frankie. No! I fell asleep for about 30 minutes on the sofa while watching, you guessed it, Through the Worm Hole. Mindy woke me to tuck in the kids. Not sure the time. After tucking both kids into bed I headed right for my own bed. I was tired.
