Passing Through Zone 4

I love this photo - a cane of grass in our back yard glistening with water droplets.
I heard the irrigation kick on and then listened for the pass to and through zone 4. All good. I went back to sleep until 530am or close enough. It was 540am by the time I brushed my teeth and found my way to the kitchen where the coffee had just completed its brew cycle. A glance towards Frankie and then out back, all looked right with the world. I completed my sit-ups and push-ups then freed Frankie. After pouring some coffee and checking the weather I headed outside. It was 63 degrees and clear. The day’s high was expected to creep back into the 90’s, although it was said to be short lived. Back to the 70’s by Tuesday. Frankie was relatively quick tending to her business. Back inside I proceeded to meditate and then stretch. Somewhere in there I choked down a Dexilant. Just before 630am I took Mindy her coffee and the pug. Mindy was already up and prepping for her shower. I headed out for my run around 640am dressed in shorts and a long sleeved running shirt. That was just about perfect. I ran the usual 4.1 mile track. No issues. Once back at home I checked the grass I sprayed with Round-Up the day before. It was already beginning to brown out. Good! I was inside at 720am. Mindy had breakfast ready and at the table – fried eggs and fresh fruit. I was hungry. My breakfast hit the spot. Mindy was gone just after 730am. She reminded the kids to take Noah’s bus home after school. I headed up for my shower at 735am. Bella reminded me of the new, earlier bus arrival time. Noted. Before a shower, I had about a ¼” of facial hair needing removed, but disposed of it rather quickly with my new Quattro Gel razor. I’ve been what you might refer to as clean shaven only three or four times in the last 6-7 years. Feels odd. The kids and I headed out for the bus stop at 800am. Kenny was out with Makayla. He wasn’t working and had tentative plans to golf. Agreed to make some measurements for the tree house later after work. The kids were picked up on time – 805am. Back home I did final prep then left for work. I drove the Trooper. I arrived at work on time. I stopped in the center after filling my pitcher with ice and water, but that was it for the morning. I had a lot of administrative stuff needing addressed after being out for four days. You might say that I was a bit of a recluse. I ate my lunch from my desk too. The day did seem to drag a little, however. I took a call from the gastroenterologist’s office asking how I was feeling. I thanked her for calling to ask. I then proceeded to share all of my life’s tragedies. She tried interrupting me several times, but I saw this as a spring board, an opportunity to unload, if you will. Two hours later I realized she had hung up. Thank goodness for redial. I called back and apologized for hanging up accidentally, although I wasn’t really certain it was my fault. Anyway, I picked up where I guessed we left off. Bet she never calls me back.  The end of the work day finally came. Mindy phoned near 430pm to let me know that she was on her way home. Said we’d be having salmon for dinner. I left the office at 545pm. When I left the office, the sky looked like rain, but the temperature was still very sultry and warmer than 90 degrees. I was home by 610pm. The kids were already preparing to sit for dinner. The smell of grilled salmon permeated the entire house. I am not the biggest salmon fan, but I was very excited that Mindy made a meal that was more suited to the diet I want to sustain. Along with grilled wild salmon, she made fresh green beans and cucumber salad. It was all very good. Bella wasn’t keen on having salmon, so Mindy grilled about six chicken legs, and peeled the skin off ahead of grillin. I had one of those, too. The meal left quite a mess in its wake, but I was careful not to complain. The kids were quick to dash out to play after dinner. Jacob was in and out several times before we were done with clean-up. In fact, he came back citing hunger before we were finished cleaning up. I gave him an earful. Heck no – kitchen closed! After cleaning up, I did a little reading which turned into a lengthy nap. I remember hearing rain, but it must’ve been short lived because it was dry when I woke around 830pm. By then, Mindy had the kids getting their showers. I felt wide awake and refreshed after my hour long nap. Life is good! I updated my blog then read some Viking headlines. Getting ready for the big game Thursday. SKOL Vikings SKOL! I went to tuck the kids into bed around 9pm – Bella first. She asked me to try and find a small piece of paper she had earlier with a witches costume on it. She was distraught that she'd misplaced it. Too funny! I assured her that she’d have the perfect Halloween costume regardless whether or not we find the paper. That seemed to placate her. After seeing the kids to bed I returned to the sofa where I searched through the TV guide to see what was on the Science Channel. Nothing good. Mindy headed for bed at 930pm. That’s seems to be her drop-off point since school’s started. I ended up parking on Comedy Central watching 2.5 episodes of Southpark. Funny but also stupid. I enjoyed a bowl of cereal – Honey Bunches of Oats - before going to bed.
