Moving Files Successfully
I stayed up late watching the Vikings get a rare butt whoppin’ the night before, after which I didn’t sleep all that well. Go figure. However, despite being short slept, I still woke early – 445am early. I felt fine save for a slight twinge in my nose. Uh-oh.
I prepped a pot of coffee after failing to do so Sunday night. I then began my calisthenics. After 55 sit-ups I moved to my PC to check email and read a few headlines. I purposefully skipped reading any sports headlines, not wanting to rehash Sunday’s disappointing loss. For that I had a heavy heart.
At 5am I did my push-ups then headed out with Ykraps. It was 28 degrees, and it felt even colder. One good thing about the recent cold weather is that all the ski slopes are making snow, and some plan to open as early as this coming Friday. We’ll see.
I was back home to some hot coffee by 515am. I had oodles of time on my hands. In addition to catching up on Glenn’s blog, I moved more files to my new PC. It’s going slower than I expected but I am making headway, which is most important.
The extra time flew by. Before I knew it, it was time to wake Mindy and deliver her coffee. And since I had spent an entire hour on my PC already, I moved directly to meditation and stretching. Both went well. Bundled warmly, I headed out for my run by 635am.
It was chilly but I was dressed adequately and was really quite cozy. I noticed some snow flurries flying here and there but no accumulation of any sort. I ran four miles without a lick of trouble. Mindy had fried eggs awaiting my return. I was really hungry. While the kids and I ate, Mindy set up the crock pot with a pork roast. I guessed that to be our dinner. Sounded yummy! She managed to woof down her own breakfast then bolted for school.
The kids and I headed to the bus stop at 755am. Chrissy commented about how badly the Vikings looked the night before. She was right. For the first time all year, we played subpar football and got beat. Thanks for opening up the wound Chrissy.
It was darn near official, I had those all too familiar cold symptoms kicking in, albeit minor. I hoped I could shake them off. After the kids boarded the bus I started the Trooper then headed back inside waiting for the Trooper to warm. With a few minutes to spare, I searched Google for more tips on moving Outlook Express email folders to Outlook. I found a few possible solutions, but had to leave for work.
I arrived at work on time. Yeah! Work was extremely busy, but most of the ‘busy’ came from year end-type stuff needing done. I kept after it all morning long. I still managed to take a formal lunch. I drove home hoping I might intercept the FedEx guy delivering Xmas presents. That didn’t happen, but my trip wasn’t for not. I used it to work on my PC a little more. I decided there was no good way to move the Outlook Express folders to Outlook on a different PC. What I planned to do was convert it on my old machine, which had both Outlook and OE, burn it to CD, then move it over and try the import feature. I didn’t have enough time to carry out the plan then, however. Instead, I planned to do it later that evening. I used the last 15 minutes to take a power nap. Prior, I was beginning to feel run down with cold symptoms as well as being under slept. That did the trick. I woke ten minutes later a new man. I was surprised that I felt so good. I headed back to the office arriving near 2pm.
The afternoon went by in the blink of an eye. Mindy confirmed that she had invited my dad to dinner. I expected it. She shared that he was already there when I called. Speaking of dad, I failed to mention Sunday that mom called and will be coming to stay with us over Xmas making visiting the family a whole lot easier on everyone. That’ll be nice. Mindy took the call and said I needed to call her back to finalize the specific dates.
I arrived home just after 6pm. After a quick greeting I headed out with Ykraps. And while the cold symptoms were still present, they weren’t any worse. Soon it was dinner time, pork roast, salad, mashed potatoes and peas. I forewent the peas. Just didn’t sound appealing. The pork roast was especially moist and tasty. I had two helpings. Yummy.
After dinner and clean-up, everyone save for Bella, played Apples-to-Apples. It was fun. We must’ve played for about 45 minutes. Dad left around 730pm. After his departure, I headed to the computer to try converting/moving my mail. Long story short, that worked flawlessly. I was elated to have all of my old email and folders available on my new machine. I was going to burn the 75 or so video clips I had on my old machine to DVD but soon realized I never reloaded my DVD authoring software two years ago when my hard drive crashed. Instead, I did it via network file sharing. That’s the way to do it. It was fun, fast and easy.
I felt great about all I accomplished PC-wise. It was just after 9pm. We’d already tucked in the kids. I had no appetite for MFN. That’s how I am after a Viking loss – no football for a while. I used the time instead to play on my new PC some more. We headed to bed before 10pm. I needed a good night’s rest.
