Tacos
I was up before 530am and felt pretty darn good. The coffee maker kicked on while I was busy doing sit-ups. I checked some headlines from my new PC just before push-ups. It’s so much faster than my older Dell. But then again, it should be. There’s a lot more work ahead getting all of my software and files moved over, but it’ll get done.
It felt almost warm outside – about 42 degrees under cloudy damp skies. After returning home with Ykraps I spent a little more time on my new PC before waking Mindy. As usual, I woke her with a cup of coffee. You see, that way she’s always happy to see me.
Back downstairs I went straight to meditation and stretching. Both went well. At 630am I prepared and left for my run. I ran four miles without one iota of difficulty. I didn’t expect any though. Mindy had fried eggs awaiting my return. It’s funny, since I mentioned how much I was craving fried eggs, I haven’t seen scrambled eggs even once. Man, now that I know it’s that easy, I will ask emphatically for everything my heart desires.
Mindy left for school around 730am. I took four Advil to knock the edge off of my still sore mouth. Can’t go to work with the discomfort. The kids and I headed to the bus stop at our usual time – 755am. Nothing significant, and no poor behavior.
I left for work at 815am. The work day held no real surprises. I headed home at lunch hoping to intercept my iTouch since receiving an email from Apple on Monday that it had shipped. No iTouch. I used the brief break at home to nap and read. If nothing else, it was very refreshing to get away.
The afternoon at the office went by quickly. Mindy left the dinner choice up to me, spaghetti or tacos. I chose tacos. I just knew Jacob would love me for that choice. Mindy mentioned receiving a FedEx notice on our door indicating they had attempted to deliver a package. I thought that I might try and pick it up after dinner. I would’ve stopped on my way home but guessed I needed the door slip too.
I left work just after 530pm. The taco meat was just about done and smelt terrific. I quickly walked Ykraps then got cleaned up for dinner. I ate two large tacos. And for the first time in a long while, Mindy used extra spicy taco seasoning. That made a huge difference. So much better. We devoured nearly two pounds of taco meat.
Mindy agreed to finish clean-up while Jacob & I ran off to Fed Ex to pick-up the iTouch. But come to think of it, I didn’t know for sure that it was the iTouch. I could only assume. The Fed Ex hub is only a few miles from home off of Roberts Rd. We were there in a jiffy. If memory serves me, I hadn’t been there since shipping Glenn’s Xmas package last December. The package was small, but no obvious makings which is good. Most likely my iTouch. Mindy had already made it clear that I wasn't gonna open it until Xmas. Last year she bought me a new camera and let me have it early. But then come Xmas, I played the ‘what about me’ card.
I was glad to have it home and in the fold.
It was still well before 8pm. I spent the next hour on my new PC planning how I might go about moving all of my files. But as 9pm neared I stopped playing on the PC so I could catch the Oregon/Oregon State football game.
It was almost 9pm and time for the Oregon/Oregon State tilt. The winner becoming the Buckeyes Rose Bowl opponent on New Year's Day. The last thing I did on my new PC was read an email from Tom Shepherd sent via Facebook from Portland, Oregon inquiring to whether or not we'd be watching the big game. He's a Oregon State alum and wears his beaver pelt proudly. Talked about making the Rose Bowl trip should they win. But unfortunately, I was pulling for Oregon after seeing them trounce USC earlier this season, how could I not. :) I decided not to respond until morning.
Jacob really wanted to see the game but due to the late start time and it being a school night there was just no way. Both kids were out in a hurry. Mindy and I watched the first quarter together, but she grew tired quick and went to bed around 930pm. I promised to be up soon. I stayed up through the early third quarter but that's it. Oregon State was ahead at the time after taking full advantage of Oregon miscues.
