Me and my Aarrow
Not feeling at all lazy, I was up at the crack of dawn (before actually). It was 5:30 and I was ready to take on the day. Despite the cold gloomy forecast, I could see the waning moon in the southern sky and a few stars as I glanced out the back door. That only elevated my already good mood.
I approached my exercise routine aggressively and finished up on a high note ready for cold walk with Ykraps. Forgetting how chilly it was, I wore just a fleece. That was a mistake. My fingers were especially cold. I alternated a hand in a pocket to battle the chill. Not only was it in the mid 20’s but there was sharp wind blowing out of the west, too.
I returned for some much needed coffee and PC time. After some surfing I spent about ten minutes meditating. I wish I had more time. I made a fresh batch for tuna salad for my lunch and made fried eggs for breakfast. I took Mindy a hot cup of coffee at 7:05am granting her wish for a 7:00am wake-up call. I had to hurry back up stairs though because I gave her my coffee by mistake. Mine’s much better! :)
Mindy asked that I keep the shower running after exiting. She was going to the doctor late in the day and taking me to work first thing. I didn’t know for sure, but hoped that the Trooper would be ready for pick-up later in the day. We left for work around 7:45am. Everyone piled in the min-van – a first for me so early in the morning.
Mindy dropped me at work around 8:05 at the rear door. After a quick hug and kiss they were off to play and I was off to work. Work was busy, but when isn’t it. Some time mid morning, Mindy phoned to let me know that Ashley hadn’t returned her call and had to struggle for a back-up child care plan while she doctored. She ended up making plans with a friend and fellow teacher pal to come over and watch the kids while she went for her appointment.
I left for my run around 12:45pm. It was another cold blustery run. It was 29 degrees with a bitter wind out of the west. I used music to sooth my ears and soon I had forgotten the cold almost entirely. Before I knew it the run was over and I worked up one heck of a sweat.
I half expected to see a VM waiting from Aarrow about the Trooper upon my return but there wasn’t. I resigned myself to calling them at 3pm if I didn’t hear from them first. The afternoon blew by. Soon it was 3pm. I called Aarrow. They were working on it and said they’d call me back in minutes. Minutes later they returned my call and said they had fixed it and would split most of the expense with me even after learning that the trouble wasn’t workmanship but an inherent problem with Trooper’s. I was very pleased with the deal. I also had them replace my serpentine belt while it was in. Remember back in January Sears wanted $120 just for it. Aarrow did all that work and only charged me $200 for everything.
I let my boss know that I was leaving a little early to pick-up my car. An old friend gave me a ride to the shop. I was on the rode with the Trooper by 4:40pm. I took the back way home and arrived home just after 5pm. Everyone was in a good mood. Mindy was happy with her doctor’s appointment after learning that her pain was nothing to be concerned with. I knew it was nothing but didn’t want to minimize her feelings of concern. Jacob was excited because he was going to the hockey game with his daddy at 6:30pm. Bella was just in a good mood.
After walking Ykraps Mindy served up smoked sausage and sauerkraut. The sausage was outstanding, but the kraut was a little bland by no fault of hers. Rather, it was the brand. I gave her a tip for the next time. Buy Snow Floss in a can.
Jacob left with his daddy after Jim changed out of his work attire at our home (funny). Mindy was going out with a bunch of teachers who were still on spring break to raise a little hell. I was staying home with Bella. She didn’t leave until Bella was in bed – sometime after 7:45pm. I used the time to catch up on my blog and organize some photos. Around 8:45pm the door bell rang. It was Jacob come a knockin’, already. I was surprised that he was home already. Mindy told me to expect him home around 10pm. He asked for his momma right away even though he knew ahead of time that she wouldn’t be home. He showed signs of a meltdown but kept it in check as he prepared for bed. I was patient with him. That worked well. I let him watch the end of the hockey game from bed and watched about five minutes of it with him. He complained of a tummy ache. I gave him a Tums. As luck would have it, while he tried dozing off, Bella woke crying that her leg hurt. She also wanted her momma. Oh boy! I know the cream trick all too well. I offered it up and she bit. After rubbing some cream on her leg she fell back asleep.
For the next hour I played on the computer while eating a bowl of popcorn. I enjoyed my evening at home. Come 10:15pm I went to bed.
