8 months 'til Xmas

We had a relatively heavy thunderstorm roll through the night before, and I half expected the kids to wind up in bed with us, but they didn’t. I felt refreshed once I was up and got moving around. I purposefully slept until 5:45am.

It wasn’t very pretty out, but it was still surprisingly warmer than I expected. It was in the mid 50’s at walk time. However, the forecast called for rain and temps barely reaching the low 60’s. I could handle that, especially since we needed the rain and because the weekend outlook is very nice.

I had to pack Mindy a lunch, but not myself. We had a cookout potluck planned at work – a sure bet for rain. I finished things at home and soon left for work. I listened to another chapter of my book CD on my drive to work. This, I could already tell, could be addictive and a far better way to utilize the time.

And rain it did. I watched as the guys grilled out in the parking lot. They stretched a tarp between two vehicles in an attempt to shield themselves. Lucky for me, the rain let up just as I was hitting the door for my afternoon run. I stayed relatively dry throughout the run. It never left the upper 40''s all afternoon. I returned just before 2pm and offered to spell the grillers, but they were all but done. After my shower I returned to the center to grab some food. The burgers were great!

Mindy informed me mid-afternoon that we wouldn’t be having a Mindy Wednesday because Jacob was under the weather. So, Mindy called off the date with dad. She had chicken breast, pasta, and green beans ready when I got home from work. I walked Ykraps by myself. Dinner was good. After cleaning up the dinner dishes I retreated to the PC to once again rip CD’s to the hard drive. Only this time it was my book CD’s. I concluded that I could rip ‘em and then download them to my MP3 player where I could listen contently during my run. Just the idea gave me a stiffy! The ripping went OK except for one chapter. I couldn't get it to rip. I tried unsuccessfully four or five times.

Mindy wasn’t too pleased that I was once again spending time on the PC. But truthfully, I spent just a little more time that I normally do. She readied the kids for bed while I toiled with my PC. Within an hour I had the book downloaded to my MP3 player. Too cool! I joined her on the sofa to watch the bigger chunk of American Idol’s 2-hour special show. I would’ve preferred to listen to my book, however. Idol ended at 10pm and we headed to bed together.
