Doesn't Seem like Friday

Blessed with another beautiful day to serve as a launching point into the weekend, I woke rather happy and upbeat. For a couple of reasons, there wouldn’t be too much relaxation going on this weekend however. Instead, there will be lots of work. First, I am on-call so I will be tethered tightly to the office. Secondly, we’re completing the ‘big move’ this weekend. Still, I kept a smile about my face since it was Friday. After going through the usual stuff, I loaded the BM’er and headed off to work. It was a very pleasant morning and drive into work. Work was busy, but no busier than I expected. I didn’t leave for my daily run until just about 12:45pm. The weather was absolutely ideal for a summer run. The temperature was 80 degrees and the humidity low so the heat index was essentially a non-factor. I remember thinking how nice of a boating day this could’ve been. The run went well. I was covered only with a light glazing of sweat instead of the thick gelatinous type I’ve become accustom to in the ridiculous heat of late. Despite my heavier than usual eating this week, I still managed to drop a few pounds, but again because of the extreme heat, I wasn’t at all surprised. I weighed 158lbs after my run. The afternoon got really busy. And because I was on-call, I had to stay on top of the troubles we’d be carrying into the weekend. Typically I would be looking eagerly towards an evening at Barleys and a day on the lake, but sadly not this time. I was tied up at the office until 6pm. By the time I arrived home it was already 6:30pm. I made quick work of my nightly chores then took to the outdoors to water my flowers that were showing signs of stress. We missed our window of opportunity for rain this week – the first time in a long, long while. Subsequently, the grass and flowers are drying out for the first time all summer. The one chance we had for measurable rain dropped little more than a passing shower Thursday afternoon/evening. By the time I was finished watering, Mindy needed to run to the grocery store. I asked that we get the kids in bed first since they were so wound up. She understood and agreed. They went right to sleep and Mindy departed for Kroger. I had about an hour or so to myself, and used the time wisely backing up July photos to CD and blogging. She was home by 9pm. After we unloaded the grocery items we relaxed some. Mindy had a glass of wine while she prepared the breakfast casserole, and I had a couple of Diet Coke’s & a bag of popcorn. We talked about hot tubbing but both of us were too tired. We wanted and needed a good night’s rest before the ‘big move’ in the morning. We were in bed by 10pm ON A FRIDAY NIGHT!
