Dining with the girls
It’s Wednesday and I am expecting a sunny and beautiful day. However, when I rose, it was hard to tell what the day might hold since it was pitch black at 5:30am. Forty days beyond the solstice, the daylight’s shrinking quite noticeably.
I went about my morning is the usual fashion. I exercised, walked Ykraps, and began meditating deckside. While enjoying the tranquility of the sunrise, I was abruptly interrupted by a distraught Bella, Mindy, and then Jacob. It seems that Bella had caused her nose to bleed and began freaking out once she realized what had happened. Mindy brought her out to me to help calm her while she cleaned the blood drops. So much for a soothing morning meditation! This marked the first time ever that my peaceful morning routine was dashed.
While Mindy cleaned up the blood while I prepped my lunch and then ate my breakfast. By 7:10am I was upstairs showering in preparation for work.
I drove the Trooper to work even though the forecast called for stellar conditions.
While driving to work my phone rang. It was Courtney asking for a financial favor. She needed quite a large sum of money to pay her delinquent electric bill or it would be shut off. I told her that I’d call her from my office once there and settled. I did. Once I had the information I made the transfer of funds. She promised to pay me back the following day.
Work was busy. At 1245pm I left for a run under ideal conditions. It was a warm 87 degrees but the humidity was only 37%. I could hardly believe that the temperature was so warm given that I hardly broke a sweat. That proved the humidity thing to me once and for all.
The afternoon continued to be busy. I didn’t get out of the office until 5:15pm. I went straight home. Mindy was preparing to head to dinner with Courtney and Ashley. Ashley was already at the house by the time that I arrived home.
Mindy and Ashley left the house just after 6pm headed to pickup Courtney. I, in turn, had a couple of hours to do as I pleased so I decided to read and nap for the first part, anyhow. After I woke feeling somewhat refreshed I decided to get cracking on cleaning out the two remaining drawers in the master bathroom. I muttled my way through one whittling the pile of junk down to just a few simple items.
Soon, Jim Manken was back with the kids. They both seemed happy to see me. Jim didn’t come in. I played wit the kids for just a few minutes before coaxing them up the stairs to ready them for bed. It was already technically past their bedtime. I gave them a wash down and put them into their pajamas. Just as we were brushing our teeth, Mindy and Ashley arrived back at home. Mindy went ahead and read to the kids as I talked with Ashley before she left for home.
After things got settled, Mindy and I sat in the kitchen together and chatted. I had a bag of popcorn and a Black Cherry Fresca. We headed off to bed somewhere near 10pm. We took our blood pressure before drifting off to sleep. Mine was better than ever – 115/63 pulse 48, and Mindy’s was good too.
