Eyeballing My Needs

Up near 630am, Mindy was again already up seeing the kids off to school. I completed calisthenics and then settled in in front of my PC with coffee around 650am, or about the same time that the bus scooped up the kids. Mindy headed back to bed though she had plans to have her hair colored by nice Lindey around 930am.

I enjoyed a little quiet time before heading out for a run, probably a little too much. By the time I headed out the door it was after 8am. Unlike the past few Thursday which were almost perfect weather-wise, heavy storms were forecasted to move into the area and then remain through the weekend.

I really wanted to be at the office by 9am, but given my late start out the door, that was pretty much an impossibility. To get back a little time, I cut my run to just three miles. As much as I hated to do it, it gave me piece of mind knowing that if I hustled, I could be at work before 930am.

Back at home around 845am, I hurried through making my breakfast, packing my lunch and then a shower. Mindy was up and in the shower around then too, but lucky for her, she was already out by the time I was ready to get in.

I was off to work by 915am or shortly after Mindy headed out. I was looking forward to a day in main office. I had a number of issues I hoped to get resolved and/or under control. My boss was surprisingly absent. I later learned that he spent the morning at a customer visit in Cincy. With few distractions, I was able to knock out everything on my to-do list and then some. Heck, I was even able to squeeze in some online training, and by doing so, I completed the last class in the ITIL OSA series. Now it’s onto studying and then scheduling and passing the exam.

It must’ve been around noon when a gnarly looking storm system moved over central Ohio and dumped tons of rain along with lots of lightning and thunder. After the ominous looking front moved through steady rain persisted through the afternoon. Because of the rain, the temperature never got out of the 70s.

Stayed busy through 5pm. My boss, who made it into the office near 3pm, was still there when I left for home. I was surprised to find dad standing in the driveway when I pulled up at the house. I wasn’t sure if he was coming or going. Shared that he’d just gotten there and was looking at the new sidewalk and eyeballing how much dirt I might need to buy and move to make it look aesthetically pleasing. Just the night before at the soccer game, I asked to borrow his trailer so I could pick-up some top soil.

We headed inside together where Mindy was busy putting the finishing touches on dinner – chili, which was a big surprise but welcome, along with cornbread. She also whipped up a couple chocolate pies, one for home and another for her school gathering on Friday. Yum! The chili was superb. Lots of spices and loaded with cumin which for me is what makes it.

Dad shared that although his trailer was ready for me to come by and use anytime, heavy rain was forecasted through Sunday. Figures, but then again, not an absolute necessity to get the dirt work done this coming weekend, but instead only a desire, though a strong one. I want to get it behind me so I can focus my attention on the basement.

As good as the chili was, the chocolate pie was even better. Great job, dear! Mindy was a bit frustrated with me after I gave a less than love it reaction to her hair her new hair coloring. I didn’t say that I didn’t like it or that it looked bad, but I guess my body language must’ve.

Dad left for home around 730pm, Mindy sending him with his own small chocolate pie. She asked if he would watch the kids Saturday night while she and I go to Craig and Jeff’s wedding reception. He agreed to.

There was football on again, the start of week 3 of the NFL’s preseason - Pittsburgh/Philadelphia. I planned to watch. Like Monday night, I watched the start of the 2nd half from bed until Mindy turned the TV off when I started to dose.
