Hot steamy morning under mostly sunny skies. However, despite the lovely start, there were strong thunderstorms in the day’s forecast. Ran 4.1 miles. I’d be working across town and needed to be there no later than 1045am since we had a special meeting planned.
To that end, I made it a point to be there no later than 10am. As such, I left the house at 930am. No sooner did I get logged in when I learned that our 11am meeting was canceled. I used the two hours leading up to our standing 1pm meeting to catch up on some dangling to-dos.
Sent Mindy a text around 1130am letting her know that we could do Barley’s for dinner. She asked earlier before I left for work, but I wasn’t ready to think about dinner at the time. 1pm came around quickly, and our meeting lasted about 50 minutes. Spent the rest of the afternoon tackling a number of escalated issues. I didn’t leave the office for home until near 5pm.
Talked with Mindy on my drive home. Nailed down plans to do dinner at Barley’s. Traffic was tight, and somewhere between Dublin & Hilliard I was nearly involved in a pile up after a fairly instant stop. Three or four cars behind me had to abandon their lane in favor of the median to avoid rear ending the car behind me. Got home around 540pm.
Wasn’t home too long before I changed into shorts and a t-shirt and left for Barley’s. Not too many cars in the lot. As a result, we got perhaps the closest spot to the entrance. Inside we took up refuge at one of the two community tables. This, by the way, marked our first visit since Justin’s departure. Thinking our server’s name was Todd, and I am sure that I’ve never seen him there before despite his insistence that he’s served us before. He was pleasant enough. Learned that he knew and dated our friend, Stella when the two worked together at Miller’s Columbus Ale house.
I enjoyed a Centennial while Mindy went with a porter. The kids ordered Dr. Pepper and fries. And like we often do, we ordered a side of buffalo sauce too, but Todd brought salsa instead. He corrected his mistake and we used both. I ordered the soup of the day and KC wings. The soup was hot & sour brisket. It was decent. Mindy ordered the SW salad, Jacob a wrap, Bella, geesh, I can’t recall. I ordered a 2nd Centennial as well. Everybody finished their meal well ahead of me finishing my 2nd beer.
Left for home around 8pm. Sky looked threatening but still no rain, though it wasn’t an hour later when a heavy storm struck our side of town. Quiet on the home front. Off to bed before 10pm.
