Tangible Remnant
I woke to pee around 115am after 3.5 hours of sleep. I was also dealing with some acid reflux, so I went to our medicine stash and took a Tagament then slipped back in bed. It didn't take more than few minutes for me to realize that I wasn't falling back asleep anytime soon, so I got up and headed downstairs. I topped off my water glass then sat down at my PC where I wrote most of my Tuesday blog, or about 2.5 pages. All that took about 80 minutes. It was nearing 3am when I headed back upstairs to bed. Took just a couple of minutes to fall back asleep.
I woke numerous just after 530am but didn't want to get up for good. I kept pushing out my rise time until finally getting fully motivated around 630am. I was a little surprised that Mindy wasn't yet up. She was apparently pushing out her rise time too. Downstairs I stepped out onto the deck to find that we were socked in under completely cloudy skies. Inside again, I whipped out Thursday calisthenics then delivered Mindy's coffee.
I got the impression that Mindy didn't plan to shower. And come to think of it, she took one the evening before. No wonder why she slept in until almost 650am. Downstairs I enjoyed coffee while playing on the internet. I got out my work laptop and logged on from home though my intention were to work from my regular Hilliard office later that morning. I figured I would wait and run after seeing Bella on the bus, then shower and head to work by 930 or so.
The early morning moved swiftly. Mindy left for school around 720am. A few minutes later I headed out with the pug. Bella and I headed for the bus stop at 755am. The bus showed later than usual again. Meh, no biggie. At home I took care of a couple work issues then stretched and left for a run. Got out the door around 840am. Ran the full 4.1 miles. Noticed most of the neighborhood locust trees are pretty much bereft of their leaves. And in the back of the subdivision where many have them planted between the sidewalk and curb, the fallen canopy provides a soft carpet on which I run.
Back at the house around 920am, I got to frying a few eggs, but not before trying to reseason our green frying pan. Of late, even after a more than adequate cover of olive oil eggs have been sticking. I seemed to recall the instructions advising that the surface would need reseasoned periodically. Wasn't 100% sure of the process but tried by first heating the pan and then coating it with oil. My guess is that t somehow saturates the pores of the ceramic-like finish. Worked pretty well. No heavy sticking this time.
After woofing down a couple eggs, I decided I would work from home after all. And why not? I was already set-up and engaged from home. Made little sense to stop the momentum, shower, and drive into the office. Spent most of the day finalizing an ops review and then working on a monthly report. Lots of moving parts to the monthly report.
Aside from breakfast, I took no other significant breaks. Soon both kids were home. Mindy didn't get home until almost 5pm. Later I realized that she must've stopped somewhere after school because there was Applebee's leftovers in the fridge. She left to run Bella to gymnastics around 535pm. Jimaken stopped by around 5pm to pick-up Jacob for soccer practice.
While everyone was gone, I snacked on the Applebee's leftovers - mini boneless buffalo chicken wings or bits. They were really good. Did some writing in my blog, too. Wrote most of Tuesday's entry. Around 630pm I got sleepy, and probably from a belly full of those Applebee's leftovers. I took a nap in one of the living room recliners. Just before 7pm, Mindy dressed and headed out for one of her runs. I figured to be leaving to fetch Bella around 710pm. I opted to not lock up the house.
Arrived a few minutes early as there was next to no delay in the traffic flow. Watched Bella make a few practice passes on the double-mini. Mindy left me a check to give the gymnastics company. I took it to the office once the manager showed up. Bella and I were on the road for home by 735pm. She cited being incredibly hungry. I didn't fully commit but figured I would stop at the Wendy's or McDonald's nearest our home - her choice. As we exited the freeway, Bella picked McD's.
Said she wanted a cheeseburger, fries and drink. What the heck. Why not order a happy meal then? She said no because she's not a baby. I ordered it that way anyhow. When pressed for what Jacob might want, Bella suggested a Big Mac. I quickly scoured the menu for anything resembling a spicy chicken sandwich which I know he likes but I didn't see its parallel. I went with the Big Mac, just as Bella had suggested. I asked again while we were in line. Are you sure he likes Big Macs? I've never know Jacob to order a burger anywhere, but Bella insisted he'd be happy with one.
Home by 755pm. Jacob was busy finishing off the Applebee's leftovers but quickly abandoned them for the Big Mac. Good call, Bella! And when Bella opened her Happy Meal she expressed how disappointed she was with the mini order of fries included. Might be the smallest order of fries I've ever seen anywhere. We all got a good laugh out of the experience. Bella was none too pleased. I offered that it was an attempt to fight childhood obesity. Included with the cheeseburger and mini-order of fries was a packet of sliced apples too. Bella likes those as well. She ate her entire Happy Meal.
Come 8pm we tuned the TV to CBS where we watched three half-hour comedies back-to-back-to-back: Big Bang, The Miller's, and The Crazy One's. All three were gut busting funny. At 930pm Mindy headed for bed. I changed the TV to the NFL network game of the week featuring the Cleveland Browns against the Buffalo Bills. The Browns trailed 10-3 but tied the score within a minute or two of me tuning in. I sent Bella to bed at 10pm. She was really supposed to be in bed by 930pm. She worked me for the extra half hour. Once she was off to bed I enjoyed a bowl of Cap'n Crunch while continuing to watch the Brown's game. The Brown's led at halftime 17-10. I dosed off during halftime but remember waking twice during the 3rd quarter. At one point it was 24-17 Buffalo and then 24-24 just before I headed upstairs for bed.
