Happy 7th Olivia!!!!
I was up at 6am brushing my teeth and grabbing my running clothes - the same stuff I've run in all week. Downstairs, I checked the coffee maker, which had already completed its brewing cycle then stepped briefly out onto the deck. I was expecting clouds but that wasn't the case. Instead, lots of stars overhead and cool. Hmm?
I did calisthenics then went for coffee. At the time, the plan was to have a casual morning, meaning postponing a run until after bus stop time, and then shower and head off to work, arriving around 10am. I took Mindy coffee around 620am. She only asked that I turn off the ceiling fan. I told Mindy that despite her telling Bella lights out and in bed by 930pm she was up playing her room till 1030pm and beyond. I headed back downstairs for more coffee and internet.
Started working right away, following up on an issue that kept me engaged most of Wednesday afternoon
Got a text from David & Anita around 630am sharing that they were already on the road. Mindy left after making sure Bella took her medicine. Just before heading out the door she shared that she would be leaving school a little early to help prep the house before our guests arrive. She asked if I was working at home? Nope, still planning to head in.
Like most other school days, I saw Bella onto the bus around 805am. And since I hadn't yet completed a run, I headed back home, stretched, then left for a run. Ran 4.1 miles. Overhead and to the immediate east there were nothing but blue skies overhead. However, just to our west clouds were moving in and by the end of my run it was beginning to look like it might soon rain.
Back home just after 9am, I checked in with work then fried a few eggs for the pug and I. It was during breakfast when I decided that it might make more sense to simply work from home. I'd been working on & off since 645am anyhow. I had one major rock still on my weekly to-do list. Come hell or high water, I was determined to get it completed regardless of whatever else the work day might hold.
By noon it was raining, and at times at a fairly good clip. The temperature in the mid 50's. Looked like late autumn. Despite the sudden downturn in the weather, Friday was supposed be gorgeous - sunny and low 60s. David sent a few text updates sharing their location. Figured to get into town around 330-4pm. Stayed busy through morning and afternoon. The day went really fast.
Jacob and his buddy, Joel got home from school around 245pm. Wasn't much longer before Mindy was home, couldn't have been more than 15 minutes later. David sent another text sharing that they'd just passed Renick's Family Farm on Rt 23. While I finished my work day, Mindy put the finishing touches on the guest room. We'd need to modify Jacob & Bella's sleeping arrangements too, but not until Friday, when Glenn was set to arrive.
David & Anita arrived just as Bella's school bus pulled up. I took a break, headed out to greet our guests and help carry in their gear. Over the next hour I put the wraps on my work day, and the last thing I did was send out of office alerts to my client base. By then, Mindy had whipped up snacks for our guests. We made loose plans to have Minelli's pizza for dinner. Mindy would pick up a couple pizzas after running Bella to gymnastics. She & Bella left around 535pm.
Got a response to the text that I sent dad sharing Glenn's flight arrival times so he'd know when to head to the airport come morning. Glenn's flight was set to depart PDX around 9pm PDT that night (midnight our time). Mindy was home with pizzas around 620pm. She picked up one pepperoni and another with pep, sausage, and hot pepper rings. Made quick work of the pepperoni pizza and about half of the other. David & Mindy cracked a beer or two. I wouldn't be drinking anything until picking up Bella.
David offered to ride with. We left the house at 720pm. By then the sky was already showing signs of clearing, making way for a lovely Friday. Practice was just ending when we arrived at the gym. Essentially walked in, walked out. We were back home by 745pm. Time to relax a little. I was much looking forward to a three day weekend of fun. Poured and enjoyed a few Jack & Cokes.
Makayla came over to spend the night with Bella. They promptly disappeared to Bella's room while the rest of us hung out downstairs. Mindy & Anita were off to bed fairly early. David and I stayed up until 1030-11pm. Not too late. By then the sky was mostly clear.
