Soft Spot
As I shared at the end of Sunday's blog entry, I was up at 1030pm and didn't catch another wink of sleep until much, much later. Instead, I played on the computer then watched the end of the Dallas/NY Giants game. Dallas won. Got up from the sofa at 1130pm and started getting ready. Headed upstairs where I brushed my teeth then slipped into a pair of blue jeans and a black t-shirt. Comfort was paramount.
Downstairs I poured the last of Sunday's coffee and then prepped a new pot so Mindy would have fresh when she got up for work Monday morning. I felt pretty good and certainly not as tired as I was two Sunday's prior, or the last time I went in for one of these DR tests. I left the house near midnight and made excellent time crossing town. Arrived with several minutes to spare. Listened to the ESPN radio and also checked the Reds score. They won, sweeping the Dodgers for the first time in several years.
One of my compadres pulled up a couple minutes later. We walked inside together. We waited just inside the door for a couple others. They showed a few minutes later. Set up in a conference room at 1240am and activated the bridge a couple minutes later. We waited until 110am to start the actual test. In short, the test was a success and completely wrapped up by 130am. We hung out for a few just in case there was any unforeseen fallout. Of course there wasn't. Bidded my pals farewell then headed for home.
Listened to more ESPN on XM on my drive home. Arrived home near 2am. Took the time to set-up my laptop for the following morning since I'd be working from home. Also sent out an email sharing that our final test was a success. Felt good to have it behind us. Enjoyed some cereal before heading to bed at 3am. Didn't take too long to fall asleep. The last time I did this it took forever for me to fall asleep.
I didn't wake again until Mindy was out of bed and in the shower. I brushed my teeth then headed downstairs to have coffee. Mindy departed for work around 730am but not before clarifying that she'd be leaving school around noon to head home to take care of Jacob and quite possibly take him in to see Craig. She left for work around 730am.
Bella and I headed to the bus stop at 752am. There we met all the others. I headed out in my sleeping clothes, bed head and all. The bus arrived near 8am and then the pug and I did a brief walk so she could relive herself. Back home by 810am, I handled a couple work related tasks then dressed and left for a run. I wore a thin short sleeved wicking shirt but frankly should've skipped it. I was more than warm. Ran the full 4.1 miles and was back at home somewhere close to 915am.
At home I enjoyed another cup of coffee while also doing a little work. Had our usual 11am team call, which lasted the entire hour. Covered a broad range of topics. After our call I was fading and needed a nap having operated on about 4 hours sleep, though I felt 10 times better than I did the last two times when my circadian was thrown completely out of whack. As anticipated, Mindy was home from school early or very near noon. She checked on Jacob then called Craig's office to cancel his doctor's appointment. His fever was down to 100. Mindy still planned on keeping him home another day as required by school policy.
Spent considerable time during the afternoon constructing my monthly report. Needed to have it ready to go by Tuesday evening. Bella was home from school near 4pm. At the time, Mindy was upstairs taking a nap. She slept for almost two hours. Said that me working those middle of the night DR tests throws off her sleep pattern, too.
For dinner Mindy offered to make pasta or reheat leftovers. And speaking of leftovers, we had a lot: subs, pizza, and homemade chicken & noodles. I asked that she reheat the homemade pizza from Saturday night. That's what all three of us had and it was really good. Caught wind of more disturbing, but not so surprising news about Lindsey from one of her neighbors. We thought it wise to share the news with ex Kelly thinking she might be interested, especially because it impacts our two grandsons, and might also help apply the proper pressure on Lindsey to get her act together. Two peas in a pod.
After eating three slices of pizza and then cleaning up the kitchen I was tuckered out. Bella was watching some trash kiddie TV in the family room when I remembered that it was opening MNF football, meaning there were two games on, one early and another late. I was very much looking forward to the early game, the Eagles vs. the Redskins. The Eagles hired Oregon's Chip Kelly and they're expected to put on quite a show, much like Kelly did at Oregon. Rather than boot Bella out of the family room, I opted for the high road and instead headed for our bedroom where I figured I could watch the game and then fall asleep at my leisure. Headed up at 730pm.
As advertised, the Eagles ran a similar offense of that at Oregon - fast and fun to watch. When I fell asleep they were ahead something like 17-7. I didn't last too long. I woke again at halftime and I believe it was 33-7. I woke again at the end of the 3rd quarter just in time to see the Redskins score. The Redskins actually came storming back and had an opportunity to tie it up or take the lead if they recovered an onside kick. They came close but didn't get it done. The Eagles.
