Jawbone's Connected to the ... Bone

daily 4.1 mile trek

Friends & Family - Thanks for all the Birthday Well Wishes

For the first time all week, I slept-in for an extra 15 minutes, not getting up and out of bed until almost 550am. I didn't have an early calls or meetings so there wasn't any immediate pressure to be up any earlier. I checked out the weather from the deck, still fairly warm, though cooler than the previous two morning. Somewhere close to 67 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

Calisthenics were next. I completed sit-ups, windmills and curls, my usual Thursday routine. Poured coffee but delivered Mindy's before enjoying my own. After a quick hug I was back downstairs to enjoy coffee and internet, which is my favorite times of the day. Decided to config my new Jambox to work with my Galaxy III. Took just a minute to get the two paired then let Pandora stream via bluetooth.

The Jambox is much smaller than my Bose dock - dimensions something like 6"x2.5"X2". It sounds good, though perhaps a little 'tinny'. It's ideal for on the go - vacation, day trips, and even in the yard. I know I'll get lots of use out of this present.

Mindy and Bella were soon downstairs. I decided that I wasn't going to run until after seeing Bella off on the bus. I look forward to these more casual mornings. It's awfully nice to casually sit around in my PJs enjoying coffee, music and internet. Mindy left near 730am. It didn't occur to me until now while I am writing that I didn't have breakfast. Interesting.

Eiknarf was waiting by the front door. I went ahead and walked her before bus time. Still had a few minutes to play before Bella and I headed out. At the bus stop at 752am sharp. The bus came along a couple minutes late. We were expecting Kidney Services to come by to pick-up our donation. We had a box of old shoes and a bag full of clothes on the front stoop.

Left for a run around 830am. By then the skies were threatening rain, though I hadn't checked the immediate forecast. About a 1/4 mile into my run a fella out walking his dog suggested I was trying to beat the fast approaching rain. Uh-oh! As I passed, I shared that I don't ever worry about getting rained on. Now lightning is another story. It might have spit a drop or two but nothing more during the entire 4.1 mile run. Lucky me!

Home around 810am, I was quickly off to the shower. Opted to dress very casually - jeans and an old pullover black shirt. Mindy asked me to leave the security disabled since Dena was coming by to finish cleaning our house. Apparently had to bail the day before for the sake of time. I should also add she told Mindy she won't be able to do it ongoing. Too much time and work. I'm good with that. She wants too much anyway.

Started raining about the time I was backing out the drive, and by the time I arrived at the office it was a full-fledged downpour. I sat in the Accord for a while hoping, waiting for the rain to subside so I would get soaked running in. As luck would have it, I had to park far from the entrance. After 5 minutes, I decided to brave it and ran in. Only slightly damp hair, otherwise, I was fine.

Halls were largely barren. Stowed my lunch, filled my water pitcher. One of the advantages to being on floor #4 is that the water and ice are just a stone's throw from my new temp office. Handled a few smaller tasks ahead of our 1030am call. It was a doosey. Had to schedule a follow-up for Friday. Stayed busy all day. Didn't take lunch, though did take time to eat and work.

I glanced outside a time or two. Appeared that the rain finally stopped but the clouds lingered. Behind this weather system, it was forecasted to be cool, meaning only the 60s come Friday and through the weekend. Nice! Didn't have any outside interaction through the day. Missed a call from ASBCO. They left a VM advising that my new ski boot sole plates were in. Sweet!

Left for home at 450pm. Walking out the door I was happy to see sunshine to the west and noticeably cooler, less humid conditions. Still in the low 80's though. Arrived home shortly after 5pm. Mindy was napping when I got home. I knew that could only mean one thing - she wasn't feeling well. Mindy rarely naps otherwise. I was home for 20 minutes or so before she was up and downstairs to run Bella to gymnastics.

Our dinner plans were serve yourself. I snacked on peanuts and was fine. Just wasn't that hungry. With time on my hands, decided to spend it working on my blog, something I've ignored for the past month or so. It was soon time for me to go after the peanut.

I left the house at 710pm. Didn't take but 10 minutes to get there. Talked with Kelly, the instructor for a while. Shared the plans for expansion as well as the top-secret plan to take their kids on a Disney cruise for the TG holiday. Not telling them either. Driving to the airport and getting on a plane. Boy, aren't they going to be surprised!

Bella was eager to show me her routine on the double-mini, this just her 2nd practice since May. Not bad. gymnastics practice was soon over and we were on our way home. Bella asked about ice cream even though she hadn't yet eaten dinner. Not wanting to be Mr No, I suggested a compromise, a stop at Wendy's where she could get dinner and a Frosty. She liked the sound of that, though she argued against the Wendy's closest to our home citing how scary it is. It's one of those shared with a Pilot, right off the freeway.

We did the drive-thru and fetched Jacob something too. I knew he'd be hungry as well. They didn't readily give us the frosty we paid for. Hey, wait a minute! The kid apologized then complied. At home Jacob thanked me for remembering him too. Yes, son. Of course. While they enjoyed their dinner, I went back to work on reconfiguring my blog, changing the look. Also finished writing Wednesday's entry.

Bella was really hungry. After she finished the Wendy's she made her own nachos and cheese. Really good too. Had the ingenious idea to put a bed of cheese down first so that the ones on the bottom were cheesy too. Smart girl. Like me, the kid loves cheese. We hung out together while Mindy headed up to bed, She wasn't asleep though. I could hear up there laughing at the TV. Guessed she was watching the Big Bang, something I haven't done for a few weeks.

Bella asked if I would please wake her when I get up Friday so she can see the stars with me on the deck. She actually asked if there were still stars in the sky. :) Too funny. Said she hasn't seen them in years. Well, that might have something to do with sleeping so late and watching too much TV at night. Anyway, I was happy she asked and assured that I would wake her. I sent her to bed near 930pm. Instead of heading to her own room, though, I think she spent some time with Mindy. Downstairs I watched some of the Thursday night NFL game on the NFL Network - Patriots/Jets. Closer game than I expected. Got sleepy near 1010pm and headed up to bed. Mindy was still awake so I asked if I could watch more of the game. She agreed, but because it was halftime, we watched the rest of a Big Bang episode before more football. Near 1030pm I switched to the football game. Watched maybe 5-10 minutes before falling asleep. Good night moon!
