Happ 53rd David W.!
I was up at 730am and was eager to get a glimpse of the weather out the window. My hope was that the steady light rain from the night before was still coming down. That’s not exactly what I saw. Instead, it was fairly dry, the walks and streets just barely sporting remnants from overnight rain.
I headed downstairs where I started some coffee then headed to my computer. Once again it was in the low 70s and cloudy. The forecast called for weather similar to Saturday’s – chance of heavy rain all day. Otherwise, cloudy skies and warm and humid conditions. I played on the computer until almost 9am when I dressed headed out for a run. Like the day before, I ran only three miles. It was like a walk in the park – easy!
Mindy, I noticed, was up and sitting on the deck with the pug and coffee. I toweled off the heavy coating of sweat then poured a 2nd cup of coffee and headed back to my PC. Mindy came inside to greet me a few minutes later. She asked if I wanted to join her on the deck. I joined her a couple minutes later but not for too long. After my sweaty run, I didn’t have much desire to bask in the humidity.
Mindy made arrangements for Bella to come home before Jimaken and Jacob headed back to Dayton for day two of their soccer tournament. She was extremely excited about coming home. With the drab weather I lost track of time. Not sure what time it was when I decided to head out and power wash the front porch for the 2nd time this year. I think it was late March when I did it last. Because it gets little sunlight, it quickly builds up a coat of green moss. And just recently, Mindy/Bella spilt a chocolate malt and it left quite a splatter stain.
The power washer started easier than it ever has. I power washed the stoop and walk leading up to it from the drive in all of about 15 minutes. And since I had it out and running, I power washed the wheels on both cars and then the entire car bodies. My Accord was covered in thick water spots brought on from the irrigation system. I power washed the shami, too, just before toweling off both vehicles. Both cars were gleaming in the partly cloudy early afternoon skies. Plenty more rain was forecasted but I didn’t care. Mindy’s Pilot gets washed only 2 or 3 times a year. It was overdue.
After putting away the power washer I placed more rat poison under the deck after seeing a ground hog milling around again behind our front shrubs. Last year he was tunneling along the foundation and I had to drive him away by pouring Pinesol in his hole. I guess we now know what is eating the plants and veggies growing on our deck.
Jimaken & Jacob dropped Bella sometime that afternoon. Bella was pleased to be home. She and Mindy baked brownies while I toiled in the yard. Mindy decided to get the grocery shopping out of the way around 3pm. While she away, I took a much needed shower and then went on a bike ride with Bella. I also downloaded the Google drafting program nephew Joe told me about at the CBC the night before. It’s called Sketch & Go. I downloaded and watched 3 or 4 tutorial videos. I was still watching the tutorials when Mindy got home from the grocery.
Bella & I helped Mindy carry in groceries. Bella was still a little down because Makayla wasn’t yet home from her soccer tournament. Mindy said she planned to grill chicken for dinner. It had been sitting thawed in the fridge since last Thursday when Jacob insisted we dine out. While Mindy started dinner I fooled around with the Sketch & Go program. I didn’t realize it at the time but spent at least two hours fooling around with it. At 530pm I headed to the family room and tuned the TV to the golf tournament. Tiger Woods was once again in contention. And when he’s in contention I like to watch. I watched the final two holes for the day. Golf ended around 6pm. But unlike most Sunday’s, it wasn’t the last day of the tournament. Instead, Monday was. One more day.
Dinner was ready around 630pm. The grilled chicken and asparagus was quite good. Bella’s mood was elevated once Makayla knocked on the back door. The two of them played for a while but then bolted for neighbor Emily’s house. After dinner, it was 7pm in a hurry. Mindy and I discussed our Monday, which would include having the boys all day while Lindsey worked. We called Ashley to see if Olivia could come over too. Said they had plans for a cookout with Steven’s mom but if that fell through then she’d call and come over.
Jacob was home from his soccer game around 715pm. They won their last game but still wouldn’t play on Monday unless the team that beat them lost by 7 goals. By the time Jimaken dropped him off he knew that outcome. The team won by 1 goal. No soccer on Monday.
Jacob enjoyed some of the same chicken dinner that we had a little earlier. After Jacob finished eating, Mindy and Jacob suggested we watch a PPV movie. I scoured the guide for the Movies on Demand. There wasn’t one that tickled Jacob’s fancy aside from Dictator, which Mindy nixed – no way! I looked for any football but there was none except for a couple reruns of Saturday’s games. Blah! I then started to watch The Universe but then saw that Tosh.0 was on the Comedy Channel. I figured Jacob, Mindy and I could use a good laugh, and the few times we’ve caught it in the past, it was really funny.
I poured myself a Jack & Coke and then a Captain Morgan’s and Fresca for Mindy. I then got comfy in the family room chair where we watched like 3 episodes in a row of Tosh. There were some incredibly funny parts. Mindy and Jacob peeled off for bed around 10pm. Bella, meanwhile, called Mindy earlier asking if she could spend the night at Emily’s. Mindy agreed. I stayed up watching TV and then playing on the computer until almost 11pm.
