NFL season begins

I was up at 545am and quickly downstairs to get calisthenics underway. In between sit-ups and push-ups I stepped out on the deck where I could see a mix of stars and clouds, the first such sighting since the Friday morning prior. Once exercises were out of the way, I headed upstairs and woke both Mindy and Jacob. Downstairs again, I spent a good 20 minutes online enjoying coffee and internet.
It was once again above 70 degrees so I planned to run without the benefit of a shirt. Before that, however, I completed meditation and a stretch. Both of those were done by shortly after 630am. It was probably close to 640am by the time I was out the door for my run.

It was probably the first morning that I would call the sky dark immediately out the door. It wasn't quite middle of the night dark, but still. The sky lightened almost magically over the course of the first mile or so. I passed the usual cast of characters during my run. And speaking of my run, I ran 4.1 miles - the usual route.

The dog was still waiting to be walked when I got home from my run. She and I headed across the street and were out for all of about 10 minutes. Back home Mindy was just making her way out the door with her daily school gear. She sounded terrible. I told her that she should consider going to the doctor. She left for work around 725am.

I enjoyed my eggs that were ready and waiting in the microwave. Bella just finishing up her breakfast and took care of feeding the pug. Before running off to the shower I emptied the dehumidifier and organized a few things for my lunch. I didn't finish packing everything until later, after my shower.

I was back downstairs after a shower around 755am. I finished prepping my lunch by packing almonds and cutting up four varieties of cheese. Bella headed out the door on time and close to 805am. The bus didn't show up until almost 820am. Shared that traffic was bear. No big deal. I spent another 10 minutes inside enjoying another cup of coffee before heading off to work. And since it was a customer site day, I made sure I had everything I needed in my backpack. I left the house close to 830am.

I listened to ESPN radio on my drive to New Albany. They were all abuzz over the start of the NFL season later that night with the Super Bowl champs - the New York Giants hosting the Cowboys. Nobody was giving the Cowboys much of a chance to get the win. I was looking forward to watching the game but also wanted to be sure and catch Bill Clinton's speech at the DNC.

Arrived a few minutes earlier than usual. Not only was there no traffic problems, but I got all green lights between home and there. I was settled and logged on the network at my desk by 905a. It wasn't too long before the customer suggested we cancel the 10am call due to no issues. Sure thing. I spent my time wisely working on a section of their monthly report.

I forced myself to take a lunch and visited both Target and Lowes at Easton. I stopped in Target first where I picked up a new pair of sunglasses after breaking a 2nd pair Monday morning. I also picked up some eye drops and some more almonds. Next door a Lowes I bought a 15K sq foot bag of Scotts Turf Builder. I was gone from the office only about 45 minutes. I needed nothing else so I headed back to the office.

The afternoon was fairly quiet. I spent more time on my monthly reports but also joined a 4pm conference call. I agreed to help out a peer with some work that I could be far more efficient with. He was grateful. I wrapped up my day around 505pm and headed for the Accord. I was happy to see the sunshine - very appreciative after four days of blah. And what makes it even worse, we didn't even get much rain during the 4 day spell.
Mindy was on the sofa napping when I got home. She'd been to the doctor and was diagnosed with a sinus infection - big surprise! Jimaken picked up Jacob and took him to his soccer game in Marysville. There was a baking dish with leftover pork nachos on the kitchen table. I ate almost all of them all the while Mindy lounged from the sofa.

I spent a little more time playing with my Sketch-Up basement design. Before long it was time for Jacob to be arriving home from his game. I'm thinking it was closing in on 8pm when he and Jimaken came in. He was in a good mood. Won the soccer game 4-1. Jimaken didn't stay. Headed for home. While Jacob showered, Mindy made him another plate of nachos. At the same time, I tuned into the NFL opener. Mindy headed for bed even before 9pm. She definitely needed the rest.

Jacob and I ate the fresh batch of pork nachos, but couldn't finish. He headed upstairs around 915pm while I stayed tuned into the game. I bounced back and forth between the game and DNC. It didn't look like Clinton would be speaking until much later, or after 10pm. I went ahead and DVR'd the rest of the DNC deciding it would be watchable tomorrow evening whereas the football would be stale.

I ended up falling asleep even before halftime of the football game. I woke at halftime with Dallas up 7-3 and headed for bed. Good night moon!
