Eve

I woke tired and really wanted to sleep a while longer. I didn’t drag myself from bed until almost 550am. Downstairs I still needed to prep coffee too having failed to do so the evening before. That didn’t take too long, though. As soon as it was on, I headed to the living room and whipped out 50 sit-ups. That went fast.

Next up were windmills and push-ups. I’ve been doing windmills every day since maybe spring. They seem to help my shoulders and neck. I did 50 push-ups then quickly bounced to my feet and stepped out on the deck to check out the morning sky. Still dark, there were lots of stars to marvel over. Back inside I poured and delivered Mindy’s coffee then went to check on Jacob. I didn’t bother walking in his room. His light was already on and I could hear him moving around. It was already about 615am.
I spent about 10 minutes on the computer reading a few NFL headlines including check the final score of the SNF game. Denver and Peyton Manning beat the Steelers. I checked the forecast. Expecting sunshine and mid 70’s. Tuesday, my birthday, looked even nicer – 81 and sunshine. Just the way I like it!

I moved through meditation and stretching pretty quickly and dressed for a run around 637a. I wore the same thin long-sleeved wicking shirt that I wore on Sunday. It already stunk after just one run but lawn chores too. Oh well! It was a chilly 55 degrees. Just before my run, I pulled our emptied trash can back away from the curb since it was already emptied. The recycling was still awaiting pick-up.
Glad I wore the long-sleeved shirt. It was chilly. Thankfully, though, I warmed up quickly with body heat. I ran the full 4.1 miles. Ideal weather for a run. Hard not to love it. No complaints. The pug hadn’t yet been walked when I got back to the house. I leashed her up and headed out. Mindy was close to leaving too. Before getting in the Pilot and heading off to work, she caught up with Eiknarf and I out front of Chrissy’s to say goodbye.

Inside I enjoyed my fried eggs, toast and fruit. Bella was already headed upstairs to do whatever it is she does in her room before lift-off. I emptied the dehumidifier into the deck plants just ahead of my shower. I was back downstairs ahead of 8am packing my lunch. I suggested that Bella spend a little more time on her hair. It was a tangled mess in the back. She emerged from the guest bath with it fixed nicely.
We headed out with me a couple minutes behind her. Kenny was out with Makayla. The bus showed up a few minutes earlier than she had predicted. It had to be about 815am. Headed quickly back home where I let Eiknarf walk out front a little more until she peed a 2nd time. Inside I readied all my work stuff then enjoyed a quick cup of coffee before heading off to work. It was after 830am by the time I backed out of the drive. I thought about driving the BM’er as it was the perfect day for it, but didn’t.

Arrived at the office near 9am and was settled about 10 minutes later. My boss stopped in my office just as I was getting everything going. Sounded like he needed my help with something. My blackberry rang while we were chatting. It was a customer of the peer I was covering for all week while he vacations needing my assistance desperately. My boss saw how busy I was and just walked away. Later, when he came back I still offered my assistance though I probably didn’t sound all that sincere. I was feeling more than a little overwhelmed.

My day was a busy one, and because I didn’t take a formal lunch it went pretty fast. I got done most of my to-do list and all the ‘big rocks’. Mindy called my desk phone around end of school time. We chatted briefly, though I was very busy at the time. Just before quitting time I checked my phone. Mindy sent me a text asking me to stop by CVS on the way home to pick-up antibiotics for Bella. Now she’s got impetigo, though just a few tiny spots near her nose and mouth.

I wrapped up my successful day around 510pm and left for home. I left thinking that I might work from home on Tuesday, my birthday. I had a lot on my Tuesday to-do list though. I stopped at the Mill Run CVS as Mindy requested and picked up Bella’s prescription. I took the back way home taking Cemetery Rd around to Fishinger then Old Dublin Rd to Roberts then to Wilson. I called Mindy in router to let her know I picked up the prescription. Turned out, she was at Whole Food picking up some Chilean sea bass for my birthday dinner. She gave me the option of dinner in or out. I chose in.
Arrived home ahead of Mindy and Bella. I quickly addressed my chores, rinsing my lunch container then prepping Tuesday’s coffee. I then headed out on the deck to water the flowers, having not done so since Thursday or Friday evening. Mindy & Bella got home just as I was finishing the watering. Mindy asked what type of pizza I wanted for dinner. She was warming the Sunday leftovers. I picked the extra cheese- extra pepperoni. She asked if I would agree to pick-up Jacob after soccer practice. She was still under the weather and needed to write sub plans for Tuesday, opting to take a sick day.

I ate 4 or 5 small pieces of pizza and washed it all down with water. I had some time before I needed to go after Jacob. I used some of the time to read some Yahoo headlines. At 7pm I tuned into MNF. There were two games on that night, the first, the Bengals and Ravens. Later, the Raiders and Chargers. I watched the first two possessions of the Bengals game before leaving to go after Jacob. Mindy was in the shower when I left. I only knew he was practicing at the Spangler Rd fields. I arrived right at 730pm. The numerous fields looked all but abandoned. I didn’t see Jacob’s team anywhere. He one group of kids I discovered were way too little to be his team mates. Hmm? I parked and then called home. Mindy shared that he’s usually on the field at the far back. OK, I walked over to see if he might be there. Yep, he was there. Kicking goals with a few other kids. More than half the team was already gone. From a 100’ I had to take a double take. He’s getting so big so quick. He’s starting to build muscle mass now too.

We headed home listening to the Bengals game along the way. I’m pretty sure that it was already 10-0. Arrived home just before 8pm. Mindy was already in her PJs and had just finished up her sub plans. Mindy made Jacob take a shower right away after catching a wiff of him in his sweaty soccer clothes. She also had both kids do their nightly reading. I was surprised when Mindy let Bella head down to Makayla’s just after 8pm. She did, however, tell her to be back by 830pm.

Bella was home right on time and quickly dispatched to the shower. Mindy gave her an earful for two things: one, letting the shower run for 5-10 minutes before finally getting in. Two, for taking such a long shower once she was in. It was already after 9pm. Mindy headed up to read around 915p. She asked if I’d be joining her soon. Soon dear. I stayed up watching the game that was quickly out of hand for the Bengals. They hung tough until just after halftime. But before the 3rd quarter was over they were behind by 3 or 4 touchdowns. The Ravens looked pretty good. I ended up bagging the game at the 3 minute mark and heading up to bed. If memory serves, it was around 1005p.
