No Goose Fair Day
I was up on time. The coffee maker kicked on just before I made it to the kitchen. I felt pretty good and about as rested as I have at 530am in quite a while. Going to bed at 930p the night before definitely helped. I whipped out sit-ups and push-ups then poured some coffee. I headed to the PC where I checked the weather and a few headlines. It was cool by this summer’s standards, only 67 degrees but with 95% humidity.
I checked the baseball scores and saw that the Reds won yet again. They’ve been on an unbelievable tear over the last month winning something like 20 of 23. I read a few stories related to the Olympics too. Lastly, I checked the financial news. Markets flattening. At 610am I headed to the family room to meditate and stretch. Both went very well.
I was eager to put on my new running shoes and give them a go, their maiden voyage. My summer running wardrobe has been nothing more than a pair of shorts, socks and running shoes. I headed out the door near 630am and after another quick stretch of the hammies from the stoop I bolted off on my run. Once again, the area between my hamstring and glutes were extremely tight and achy. But just like they have the past week or so, they loosened about a half mile into the 4.1 miles run. The sun busted up over the horizon after 5-10 minutes into the run. Looked like another hot sunny day in the offing.
Finished my run near 710am and headed inside to prep my breakfast and lunch. While the frying pan heated, I emptied the dehumidifier, something I’ve been doing each morning since Mindy hooked it up in the basement. Where pulling about two gallons a day now and it would pull more if the capacity was increased. It shuts off once the tank fills. Instead of wasting the water, I’ve been watering plants on the deck, including the two large burning bushes straddling the steps to the yard. They’ve been thirsty all summer long. Bella’s alarm was going off again, only this time she woke to shut it off. On her own, she’s been trying to get back into the school mode. I find it fascinating that she had the wherewithal to do it on her own.
I fried three eggs, two for me and one for Eiknarf. She didn’t come downstairs at all. I ate then headed up to the shower with Mindy’s coffee in tow near 745am. I was showered, dressed and back downstairs by 805am. I made sure I had everything I’d need to work remote: laptop, blackberry, power cord and mouse. I had everything ready to go before I poured myself a 2nd cup of coffee. Mindy was up then too. We chatted for a while. She had a busy day planned. She and the kids were meeting her bff and her kids at the Ohio State fair at 10am. We joked about how sorry I was to not be joining them. The state fair is definitely not my thing, though I like to go about once every decade.
I left work around 835am. I had to stop for gas at the Circle K. Prices were up: $3.69 per gallon. The Accord took 16.1 gallons. Off to New Albany. It was a quick drive to the northeast corner of the city. Traffic was light. Arrived by 910am. Enjoyed a sunny walk into the facility.
It took a while to get logged onto the network. We had our regular 10am Wednesday call. It was over after 10 minutes. It was the first of the month already which meant I could pull last month’s performance data and get started on July reports. I wasted no time digging in. Spent pretty much the entire day collecting, sorting, and analyzing data. I didn’t bother taking a formal lunch break. I had no errands in need of running so I chose to plow straight through the day. I enjoyed my light lunch of cheese, nuts and yogurt midafternoon.
I left New Albany at 525pm. By then it had heated up to near 90 degrees again. I didn’t call Mindy until I was well integrated onto I-270NW. She was napping on the sofa after Jimaken picked Jacob up for soccer camp. Asked if I wanted to take or pick-up Bella from gymnastics. She preferred I drop her off. That way, she said she could pick-up Jacob from soccer camp, run to Wal-Mart to get a few things for her teacher thing Thursday, and then swing by to pick-up Bella. She wanted me to let her go so she could sleep more. Apparently the sun and fair food wore her out.
Arrived home near 610pm. Bella was playing quietly in her room. So quiet that I mistakenly assumed her not there. I took care of a number of things, including some writing in my blog before it was time to take Bella to gymnastics. Mindy remained sleeping/napping from the sofa. We planned to have leftovers for dinner, and there were lots of options. I chose to have a burrito, but not until I was back from dropping Bella.
I took the Pilot so I could closely monitor the performance of the modified Thule. Seems stable. Back at the house around 710pm, I made my burrito. Left me feeling tired and full. Mindy was up by then and heated herself a bowl of the leftover chicken & noodles. After eating I returned to my PC hoping to get current with my blog, something I wasn’t able to accomplish pretty much through all of July. It didn’t hurt that Mindy left to pick-up Jacob and Bella and then stop at Wal-Mart soon after dinner. No distractions. I wrote until just after Mindy and the kids got back home, which was somewhere near 850pm. Goal accomplished. I had all entries written through Tuesday, July 31. I most likely won’t get them posted until the weekend when I have some extra time.
Mindy stopped at Canes chicken for the kids. I snatched a couple fries from Bella. I went to the family room and tuned the TV to the Olympics. I watched some swimming and gymnastics coverage. I started dosing off from the sofa around 930pm. By then Mindy and the kids were already upstairs. I upped from the sofa at 1007pm and headed for bed. Mindy was tucking in Bella when I headed up. By the way, I didn’t see the geese in yard even once that evening. Yes!!! Good night moon!
