The coffee maker hadn’t yet kicked on. I started it manually without giving it any thought. The skies cloudy. I finished both sit-ups and push-ups then took some coffee to the PC. I was surprised to see that it was 59 degrees but with rain expected sometime soon. Still expecting a high near 70, however. I knew it would rain. I washed my car on Sunday. I’ve had the Accord since early July, and I’ll bet I haven’t driven it clean for more than five days of that time. Seems to rain the day after a car washing every time.
In fact, I noticed the deck covered with rain as I prepared for meditation. It was gentle but steady rain but increased in intensity as the minutes rolled by. Great! At least there wasn’t any thunder and lightning. I got a good jump on the clock and had meditation and stretching behind me by 620am when I delivered Mindy’s coffee. I joked that I didn’t get to drive my spot free Accord even ten feet. We both got a quick chuckle out of that.
I managed to head out the door a couple minutes ahead of 630am. It was still raining steadily, but I would call it a light, gentle rain. I ran the full 4.1 miles not thinking too much at all about the rain. After all, it was nice and warm, and almost early summer like. Even with thinner layers and hand or ear covers I got a little warm. I survived, though.
Back home I went to walk Eiknarf. Mindy called out for Bella to bring her forth. I noticed Bella struggling to put on her collar from the top of the stairs. Not sure why she took it off. I finally asked that she toss it to me and I would put it on the dog. Well, I guess not. The end was chewed. It wasn’t going to fasten no matter what. Dang it, Bella! I made a noose out of her leash and headed out for our walk.
Not much of a rain dog, she was fairly quick to take care of her business, but not before she got good and soaked. I was already wet so I didn’t bother looking for my umbrella, which I knew was in the trunk of the Accord. Mindy had my eggs ready back at the house. She reminded the kids to bus home with Noah just before she left. Shared that Jacob would have soccer practice, Bella gymnastics, and that the boys were coming over so Lindsey could do a job interview. Yes, she still has her current job. A busy evening ahead indeed.
Off to the shower near 730am and back downstairs ready to go before 755am. Not sure why, but I shaved skin close. Had to change the blade. Because of the rain, we collectively decided to wait for the bus from the garage. The neighbors didn’t join us. The bus arrived early, or about 811am. Fine with me. As I walked by my rain drenched Accord, I could only shake my head. I was hoping to drive it all shiny and new looking.
Arrived at the office near 835am. By the time my lunch was stowed, I had ice water, and was logged on, it was already 9am. My how time flies. I arranged for a 930a meeting to discuss some logistics surrounding one of our newer customers. We met in the boss’ office. Got the idea that there are some unexpected changes in the wind again. Oh boy!
Stayed really busy all day long spending most of my time on monthly reports. I had a couple other calls to join too. The moved by swiftly. It looked to be raining pretty hard outside mid afternoon. However, by the time the work day was over the sky was beginning to clear. I left for home around 515pm but as one might expect, it seemed a whole lot earlier given the spring forward time change. I phoned Mindy to let her know that I was making a stop at Target. She’d been to physical therapy which she said went well.
I stopped at the Mill Run Target where I picked up a new dog collar for Eiknarf as well as some poop sacks and holder that attach to the leash via clip. That’s way more convenient. I also picked up some Vaseline. Mindy called again just as I was exiting Target wondering my ETA so she could start the pasta on the stove. Shared that I planned one more stop at Jack’s to get crickets for the anole. That was a quick stop. I took the back way home down Old Dublin Rd to Trabue. I was home before 6pm.
Makayla was there, as were the boys, which I had forgotten about. Mindy was putting the finishing touches on dinner while I unpacked my work gear, including my recent purchases. We were having Penne pasta with marinara sauce with Saturday’s left over hot Italian brats in the sauce. It was very, very good. We weren’t expecting Lindsey back from her interview until about 730p.
Chrissy called when she arrived home and Mindy invited both she and Jake down for pasta dinner, too. They came down while I was doing kitchen clean-up. It occurred to me while big Jake was there to ask for his help carrying the elliptical machine up from the basement and to the curb, something our Jacob just couldn’t handle. Big Jake probably had about 20 lbs on our Jacob. He and I successfully carried it up and out. Mindy & I were both happy to have it out of there. We were hopeful that it would be gone by Monday, picked up by someone wanting it or the scrap metal value.
While Mindy and Chrissy continued to visit, I agreed to do the drop and pick-up for Bella’s gymnastics. She and left a couple minutes later – 655p. The drive was a little slower than what I am used to and as a consequence, we arrived a couple minutes late. No big deal.
Mindy & Chrissy were talking about the Jacob/Lillian thing when I got back. I left the two alone and headed to my PC. Lindsey showed up a few minutes later citing how disappointed she was with her interview. Turned out being a full sales commission job opportunity with an advertising/marketing firm. I suspected as much but didn’t want to dance on her parade. Instead of leaving with the boys, she asked if we’d mind watching them for another hour or so while she attended a meeting where one of her friends was slated to speak about her life story. At first a little reluctant, we agreed. The boys weren’t really being any trouble.
Time to fetch Bella came around quickly, and since Lindsey wasn’t expected back until almost 9pm, I asked Landon if he wanted to ride with me He did. He was his usual shy self, but followed me in. Bella was already getting ready to depart. We were out of there quickly. Predictably, Bella asked if we could stop at Wendy’s on the way home. No.
Lindsey pulled up in front of the house even before Landon, Bella and I could get in the house and our shoes off. I had to ask Landon to keep his shoes on since Lindsey shared that she was tired and ready to go home right then. Rocky was already getting ready too. Apparently Lindsey gave Mindy a heads up call that she was on her way.
Mindy dispatched Bella to the shower while the rest of us sat around the kitchen/familyroom. I’m thinking we caught a little TV, but I can’t recall what we might’ve watched. Once again, we didn’t stay up too late and were heading to bed even before 930pm. Mindy said she planned on reading. I grabbed my book on the way up too. I can’t remember the last time I read in bed. It’s not something I typically do. Bella was having a mini meltdown about something from her room. I went to calm her. She was rambling so I could barely understand a word. I did manage to hear that she hurt herself in gymnastics and that he momma hurt her feelings. She was fine when I left.
I’m thinking that I read from bed for about 20 minutes, or until my eyes got incredibly heavy. Felt great. Definitely a wonderful sleep aid. Good night moon!
