Hop

I was off to the shower by 735am and because it was Friday I’d be wearing blue jeans along with a stretchy, short sleeved black button up. It felt good knowing I had an entire weekend ahead completely free from on-call responsibilities. For the kids, this was their last day of school before spring break. That came around fast. Seems like Xmas break just ended.

We headed out for the bus at 805am. By then it was mostly sunny and fairly warm. Eiknarf was the only dog at the bus stop. Chrissy left theirs at home. Said she was heading to a funeral thus missing a half day of work. The bus arrived near 810am.

I left for work around 820am driving the Accord. It was a mostly sunny drive into the office but the sky looked a pale gray immediately to the west. Not a good sign of things to come. Once in the building I was quickly immersed in work and forgot about the changing weather. I spent most of my day in reactive mode and at a fast pace to boot. That helped the day move quickly.

I didn’t leave my office except for a couple quick bathroom breaks, much less leaving the building for lunch. I can’t believe how fast the day went. Things got really busy for me at day’s end. I’m pretty sure that I was the last on our team to leave. It was after 530pm when I headed for the elevator.

It was raining when I exited the building and looked like it had been for some time. It was still fairly warm though. Called Mindy, who was on her way home from Target with the kids. One of the kids did something that necessitated her abruptly ending our call. I called and talked with my mom for the rest of my commute home. Hadn’t talked with her for a couple weeks. She sounded good and said she’s feeling better. Not happy with the high gasoline prices. Told her she should’ve kept that Civic she had a bout 6 or 7 years ago.

Mindy had some Chic Filet chicken nuggets out on the island when I got home. They stopped and picked them up from the drive-thru on Rome-Hilliard Rd. Said the grandsons were on their way over and would be there until 8pm or so while Lindsey attended some meeting. She bought the Hop, DVD. Planned to watch it later that evening. Lindsey dropped the boys around 615pm. The rain was on and off, but it didn’t seem to faze the kids in the least. They still wanted badly to play outside.

I opted to read and try and nap around 645pm. At the same time, Mindy took Eiknarf on a walk. She was gone for a while. I guessed that she stopped by the neighbors. When she returned 20-30 minutes later she was without the pug. Left at Chrissy’s to play with the others. She asked if I wanted to hand with the neighbors later. That wasn’t something I was chomping at the bit to do. Instead, I was happy relaxing, reading, napping and having some family time.

Lindsey called just a mile or two from the house asking if we would have the boys all ready to go. She wasn’t there for more than a minute. As soon as the boys left Mindy put in the Hop DVD and I poured a White Rajah. The movie was cute, but predictable, a bit like the chipmunks. I poured a 2nd White Rajah which Mindy shared some of. She headed up to bed immediately after the movie which was near 940pm. I stayed up a while longer watching what, I can’t recall. I never even finished my 2nd White Rajah before falling asleep. I woke just after 10pm and headed up to bed.
