Surprisingly Warm
Goodbye Warren. You'll be missed.
After sleeping surprisingly well, I rolled out of bed just after 5:30am. At mid-point of my exercise routine, I checked the temperature. It was 50 degrees. In turn, my walk with Ykraps was very comfortable. Back before 6am, I spent almost ten minutes sipping coffee and playing around on the PC before heading upstairs and waking Mindy and delivering her coffee.
I spent the 30 minutes between 6-6:30am relaxing, stretching, and meditating. I left for a run at 6:35am. I dressed comfortably for the mild weather. It was an excellent run. Mindy had fried eggs ready for me to eat upon my return. Landon was still sick and a bit lethargic. Mindy and the wee ones departed before 7:30am.
Jacob & I left the house for the bus stop at 7:55am. It must’ve pulled up around 8:04am. I was back at home by 8:05am tying up a few loose ends before departing for work. I arrived just before 8:30am. Although rain was predicted, the sky was fairly bright. The forecasters were calling for clouds drifting in from the north bringing in a chance of storms. That never materialized. Instead, the dark clouds stayed just to our north and sunshine prevailed overhead. That drove up our temperature well into the 70s when only the 60s were predicted.
By the time that I left for home at 5:30pm, it was 78 degrees. I later learned that we officially broke a record around 3:45pm by hitting 79 degrees. As warm as it was, it was windy too. That wasn’t too big a deal, but still worthy of mention. Mindy said that she was surprising me for dinner.
While preparing to walk Ykraps I learned that we were having stir fry. The stir fry was good, and the clean-up was a snap. We used paper plates. Because it was so lovely out, Mindy suggested that we take a walk. The three older kids were already out playing. Mindy and I headed out with Landon around 6:45pm. We ended up down at the O’Connell’s where all the other kids were already playing. We hung out there for nearly an hour while the kids bounced on the trampoline and played some soccer. Mindy did some jumping on the trampoline, too. And later, after the bigger kids were done, Landon joined in.
We walked home around 7:45pm. All the kids needed a bath. Before a bath, we gave the kids dessert, sugar waffle cookies. Just as they were finishing up, neighbors David and Becky came to the deck door. They had some very sad news to share. Warren, Becky’s father, passed away earlier in the day. He’d been living with them since they moved in a few years ago. He was 83. His 84th birthday would’ve been this coming Thursday, March 12th. We extended our condolences and got the specifics about his wake and funeral. He’ll be missed.
We got the kids bathed after learning the sobering news. Rocky took his first shower ever, at least by himself. He was very proud. I read two books with Rocky before tucking all the kids into bed. He always tries to hurry. Mindy, admittedly, does a better job of keeping him focused than I do.
This was American Idol night – the top 13. We got to see all but one or two of the contestants. I enjoyed it. We headed for bed immediately after.
