We're Having Tacos!
It was 14 degrees when I began my day. That was just before 5:30am. And while I consider that cold, it’s nothing compared to where we’ve been. I quickly went about my calisthenics then leashed up Ykraps for a typical winter morning stroll. Footing was again at a premium. I had to be extra attentive. We survived.
Back home, I poured a cup of coffee then took to the internet for some fun. Come 6:05am I delivered Mindy a cup of coffee mixed up just like my own. After reading the Daily OM I did some stretching on the family room floor. Afterwards I spent about ten minutes in meditation. At 6:25am I began dressing for my run. Just before take off, I did my usual outdoor hamstring stretches too.
My run was largely uneventful. Nothing stood out different from any other day, aside from the icy footing. To that end, I was extra careful. I finished my run by 7:15am. Mindy had my eggs ready and the kids about ready to load-up by the time I got my sweaty running jacket off and hung up. I said goodbye to everyone then finished my breakfast and packed a light lunch. Mindy and the kids were gone by 7:25am.
After cleaning up the kitchen and taking a hot shower it was practically time to head to the bus stop. At 7:58am Jacob and I did just that. It was still in the teens but the sun was shining brightly. The sunshine helped warm things just a little. I was chillier than usual, in part because unlike most days, I was wearing dress slacks. I left for work at 8:08am.
One of our executives was in town for a rah-rah meeting of sorts. I wanted to put my best foot forward, although come to think of it, I do that everyday. The meeting didn’t start until 10am, but that rolled around quickly. The meeting was informative and went fast. It ended near 11am. I spent the next couple of hours digging into our busy workload. We had another, smaller meeting with the same fella mid-afternoon. That went well, too.
The entire day moved swiftly. I was astonished to see that it was near time to go home. Mindy was stopping at Kroger before heading home from school. She called and asked if I needed anything. I listed a couple items. She also asked what I wanted for dinner. I suggested tacos. She took my idea and ran with it. Daughter Ashley phoned sometime during the afternoon to share the bad news about her car. It was gonna cost $900 to do the repair. She asked me to pay half. I had to decline this time. She hung up on me. Kids!
I arrived home just before 6pm. I had to walk Ykraps and quickly prepared to do so. I couldn’t wait to dig into the tacos. They smelt terrific. I actually made burritos in lieu of tacos. I ate 2.5. They were delicious. I blogged some then tuned into Idol. I caught the last half hour or so. We headed to bed immediately after watching Fringe, the sci-fi thriller after Idol.
