Turning a Corner
Up at my usual time, I was eager to get my exercise routine underway. To that end, I quickly whizzed through a set of sit-ups and push-ups. I checked the temperature, which hovered near freezing – a more normal number for this time of year. Ykraps and I were out the door for our walk minutes later.
Everyone would be back at their routines today, including Mindy & Jacob heading back to school. After I got back from my run I delivered Mindy’s coffee. Afterwards, I sat in front of the PC reading, relaxing, and planning my day. Come 6:15am I went to the family room where I stretched for a good while and then spent several minutes meditating. It wasn’t until 6:40am that I finally headed out the door for a run.
I felt really good during today’s run. Nothing ached and everything was loose. The weather, meanwhile, was superb for running – dry & cool. I finished my run around 7:20am.
Mindy & the kids were out the door soon after my return. Before she departed, I asked if Jacob was already up. He was, but off in his room playing his PS2. I ate and then picked up the kitchen before running off to the shower. It was short time later when Jacob and I headed off for the bus stop.
After the bus swooped the two Jake’s up and away I was off to work. The work day was consistently busy. Not a lot of time for rest or play, but I guess that’s why they call it work. The work day eventually wound down and soon it was 5:30pm and time to head home. Along my way I phoned Mindy, who shared that my dad was over for dinner – beef & noodles. I clarified her thoughts on having Courtney take care of Ykraps during our up coming trip. She was agreeable to it. I then called Courtney to measure her interest.
Courtney shared some really good news. She just got signed up for spring quarter at Columbus State after passing the entrance exam with flying colors. She’s planning to do their nursing program but the wait is long – one year for her- two years for most others. Classes begin one month out. Good for her! I asked if she wanted to care for Ykraps in our absence. She agreed to do it. Great! She promised to stop by over the coming weekend to wrap up the details.
Dad had already walked Ykraps making my transition home a little easier. It wasn’t too long before we were sitting at the dinner table enjoying our beef & noodles. Mindy had frozen apple fritters baking while we ate. Among other things, we talked about dad’s fast approaching Florida trip and how he plans to care for Archie. According to him, he’s built a feeder/watering system that should leave Archie well supplied for the entire 10-day period. Still, I expressed concern over leaving him unattended for so long. Turns out, brother Bobby may go by a few times just to check on him, though. Good thing!
After dinner we ate apple fritters topped with whipped cream and ice cream. They were scrumptious. Dad hung out until 7-7:30pm. I showed him our new skis before he left.
Mindy got Jacob & Bella bathed and ready for bed as soon as dad departed. Rocky & Landon were bathed Wednesday and on the regular every other night rotation. With the exception of Landon, all the kids read before bed. Mindy & I sat and talked in the living room about the future and how our time with Rocky & Landon might be improved, as well as how we should deal with the ongoing uncertainty surrounding their stay. We both agreed that there needs to be a long term plan put in place. Not sure that Lindsey is even thinking about as much. We’ll broach the topic with Kelly soon.
