Herbie wants to be a Dentist
Up at 5:30am, I felt a bit more tired than usual. But by the time I finished exercising and walking Ykraps that was out of my system. The sky above was clear once again provoking the desire to drive the BM’er. I could think of no good reason not to.
I left for my run perhaps a few minutes after 6:30am. And in what has become part of my routine, I stretched on the front stoop for a minute or two. I set out for my run in shorts, shirt and fleece. The temperature was in the mid 50’s making me a little uncomfortable in the fleece after the first mile or so. I passed the usual cast of characters doing their morning thing.
I made fried eggs upon my return from my run. Mindy wasn’t feeling to well, exhibiting cold like symptoms, and most notably a terrible cough. Sounds like she could hack up a lung! It was Bella’s official birthday. We wished her well as she began her day. She and Mindy left for their usual gigs at 7:25am – a bit late.
Jacob was up and already dressed making my life a bit easier. He asked me to make him some French toast sticks. Poof! You’re now a French toast stick! We readied for our day which culminated in me getting Jacob’s shoes on and his hair brushed. He left for the bus stop at 8am sharp! I walked him down, planning to return home before heading out myself. I had several minutes to kill leading up to my 9:10am dental appointment. I used the time constructively, updating my blog.
I left the house at 8:45am destined for Dr March’s. And yes, I drove the BM’er. I arrived early, as usual. They got me in about five minutes early, also. Faith was my hygienist and has been for the past four or five visits. It took a full hour for the exam, x-ray, and cleaning. She commented when through that I might want to brush my teeth more thoroughly, especially around the gum line. I was a little offended given that I brush four times each day and floss religiously. I am simply prone to plaque.
The work day was busy but nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary. Just another crazy day! The work day ended in a hurry. I was out of the office and on my way home by 5:15pm. Mindy and the kids were at home playing. Mindy made dinner for both kids but not for us. She was feeling worse than earlier. I wasn’t too hungry anyhow, and I more than anything else, I simply wanted to sneak a nap. As fast as I could, I went horizontal on the sofa. It wasn’t long before I was out cold. I was abruptly woken when Bella pounced on my chest to say goodbye. Holy smoke! Mindy and Bella left for dance class. Jacob and I stayed home.
Jacob dashed off to play with friends. After laying there in a trance for a few, I eventually roused enough energy to get up and on my feet. Still groggy, I got busy installing Bella’s new flat panel TV/DVD combo. She’s so spoiled! Set-up was a snap. And the TV itself is incredibly light as compared to tube type TVs. I found my way to the basement where all of our individual CATV connections converge. After a few attempts I found the right one. I know that I should label them. It took several minutes for the TV to run through the entire set-up process. And then after a few minor adjustments the picture looked great. About the time I was finishing up, Mindy and Bella returned home. Bella was very excited to find that she had her own TV now. Mindy tested the DVD player by inserting the disc in backwards. I gave her grief for not checking first. She lashed back rather curtly being sick and all. Ouch! The trouble was resolved quickly and the TV/DVD combo a hit.
Soon the kids were in bed and tucked in. Mindy and I retired downstairs. Mindy did some internet time while I sat down to watch a couple new TV shows I was curious about. I tuned into “Caveman” about halfway through. It was funny but nothing spectacular. Beyond the caveman-like appearance of the main characters it was like any other sitcom. Next was Carpool. Now I found that one funny. Mindy missed Bones to placate my desires. Both of us were interested in watching House at 9pm. We tuned to Fox just in time. Another good episode. Do catch it! We went to bed immediately after.
