Rough Day

I must’ve woke around 7:00am for a very brief moment and just long enough to choke down three Advil. The one thing I knew was that I needed way more sleep. I felt terrible and had a horrible taste still in my mouth. Yuck! I slept until after 10am when I finally struggled my way out of bed. Down stairs I couldn’t stay on my feet. I felt so bad. Back to sleep only this time on the couch. Eventually I rolled to the floor where I slept until after noon. Convinced that I absolutely had to get my run done, I managed to slip into my running shorts and shoes and stumble out the door and into the Sunday sauna. Let’s just say that I ran my four miles on pure will – nothing else! My head was fried and my thinking dull. I felt marginally better as I worked my way around the subdivision. But there were a couple of times when I thought that I might pass out. As I spotted home in the distance nothing sounded better than my pillow. I felt so bad that I couldn’t talk. I rushed to the master suite where I took a much needed shower. It felt good but still not enough to snap me out of my funk. I was hungover like never before. After my shower I leaped back into bed and slept until nearly 3pm. Finally, I began to get a reprieve. I felt incrementally better, but by no means cured. I managed to dress and eat a half a sandwich feeling like I needed some substantial in my tummy. We left for Sunday dinner at Gloria’s around 3:30pm. I think that Mindy was surprised I went along, but I am a man of my word. She was even more surprised when I donned the trimmers and rake and began the yard work we’d been planning for about a week. The physical exertion actually helped my cause. I just needed to keep some water flowing in. We did yard work for about an hour leading up to dinner. By then everyone else was there, too, although it was a small crowd. I was eager to get some protein in my body. I ate baked steak, pork chops, boiled potatoes and green beans, and cottage cheese. The food seemed to heal what ailed me. I felt so much better after eating a large meal. I even ate some chocolate cake for dessert. We left Gloria’s around 7pm. I was crashing fast. At home I walked Ykraps who had been waiting patiently for our return. After the walk I felt good enough to water my flowers which I failed to complete earlier for obvious reasons. At 8:30 Mindy and I agreed to head up to bed and watch the movie RV on DVD. She was certain that I would fall asleep minutes into it. The movie was just funny enough to keep my interest. I managed to stay up for the entire thing. I think that I was so tired I couldn’t sleep.
