Ladies & Gentlemen ... The Weekend!
1) The Firkin
2) Olivia completely bedazzled
3) Me & Oliva talking
4) Katie at the Pointe
For no apparent reason, I woke feeling slightly under slept after nearly 8 hours of solid sleep. It didn’t take long, however, before the sleepies were behind me and my energy high. A vigorous round of exercise saw to that. It was still pretty chilly, the early morning temperature hovered around 20 degrees. I walked Ykraps then returned and made coffee, breakfast, and lunch.
Although it was Friday, I didn’t have the usual skip in my step that I might otherwise have since I would be on-call over the weekend. Still, I remained confident that it wouldn’t be a dreadful experience.
I left the house for work at 7:50am and arrived just after 8:00am. The first half of my day went about as smooth as one could hope for, although I didn’t get away for my run until 1:10pm.
It felt good wrapping up another week of running. During my run I inventoried the number of runs/days remaining until my ten year running streak anniversary. I have 21 more to complete. Too, I remembered that I need a new pair of running shoes. In fact, I am way over due.
The afternoon, for a lot of reasons, was much dicier than the morning. Things got very busy. We were hopping all afternoon. And that’s never good, especially heading into an on-call weekend. I did my best, and by the tiem I left I felt satisfied with where things stood heading int othe weekend. I left for home near 5:30pm.
I was home by 5:45pm feeling rather upbeat about the weekend regardless of my on-call status. As usual, the weekend was pretty much all planned out, albeit nothing too exciting. Tonight, we were heading to Barleys. Tomorrow, G.D. Kaileigh is spending the night, and we’re making chili. Sunday, we’re doing church and then dinner at Gloria’s.
Ashley arrived to watch the kids around 6:30pm. As usual, I snuck in a quick nap before getting ready to go. Olivia was chatting up a storm and entertaining all of us. The kids have really taken to Ashley. That’s because she interacts with them.
We didn’t leave for Barleys until just after 8pm. By the time we arrived, Tommy was already there but not anywhere in sight. We knew this because Jeremy & Courtney indicated as much. They were seated at a table in the bar area having some dinner and beer.
Bob & Mary Ann weren’t present because Bob’s father took a dangerous spill at home, so they headed to Wadsworth to spend time with the family over the weekend. I ordered a firkin and Mindy ordered a Shiraz. Tonight’s firkin was Jack Frost – Winter Warmer. I didn’t eat dinner. I wasn’t that hungry.
Mindy’s friends, Aaron & Steve, showed up just as planned. Our new friends, Mark & Trudy were there, too, as were other regulars, Rick, Steve, and Mark. We all got a bunch of laughs discussing this week’s American Idol. Most agreed that it's can’t miss television!
We hung at Barleys until about 11pm. On our way home we stopped at the Pointe Tavern, which is on our way home. I wanted to say hello to an old friend, Katie who bartends there. While there, Mindy had water and I had a Sam Adams. We stayed just long enough to chat briefly with Katie, take a picture, and finish my beer. I saw an old Time Warner cohort there, too – Steve Rittenberry.
We arrived home just before Midnight or there abouts. After Ashley departed for home we headed to bed. Both of us were tired.
