Hair, Nails, & Feet
HAPPY 23RD BIRTHDAY LINDSEY ANN WRIGHT
I was on my feet gazing at the stovetop clock at 5:44am. I quickly refilled my water cup and choked down my One-A-Day vitamin. It was already Thursday. Boy the week’s going fast.
It wasn’t too long before my exercises were history and Ykraps and I were out the door for our morning walk. After being reunited with my parka liner, the cold had nothing on me. I was plenty toasty.
Back at the house I made Mindy her coffee. She was already up and in the closet selecting the day’s wardrobe. I left her coffee in the master bath on the lingerie dresser. I headed back down the stairs to carry on with my morning routine. The first thing I did was check my email to see if Bob had booked his flight and sent an itinerary. He hadn’t. Next, I read the Daily OM.
It was already after 7:30am. I had to move on. I quickly packed mine and Mindy’s lunch. I made fried eggs for breakfast. The kids were once again in jovial moods making everyone’s morning a little brighter. In what was a bit of a twist, they were both downstairs before their mother. I made them both breakfast, too.
They left for school at 7:20am. I headed to the shower. After my readying for work I spent a few minutes tidying up the kitchen and then left for work. It was nearly 8am when I left the house. Ten minutes later I was at work.
Work was rather busy right out of the shoot. No time to waste. If nothing else, that helped the morning fly by. I left for a run at 12:45pm. It was still cold and below freezing. There was just a slight breeze. The run went easy. After a fast shower I was back in my office before 2pm.
The afternoon was much like the morning. I learned via email that everyone was a go for our ski trip, but I chose to wait for final, final word from everyone before making the condo reservation since once we book it, we’re in it for the full amount – no cancellation policy within 45 days. I still wanted to hear back from Bob & MA to see if they had booked their flights. Tom Shep’s friends from San Fran apparently had no interest in sharing a condo with all of us. Whatever???
I left work around 5:20pm. Just before leaving my time-off approval came through. On the way home Mindy informed me that Ashley was coming over with Olivia. She wanted to share her “life plan” with us. Word has it that she’s wanting to attend Ohio State School of Cosmetology school. I was anxious to hear her plan.
As soon as I arrived home I placed my running clothes in the dryer and deposited my lunch container sink side. Next, I changed my shoes and grabbed Ykraps’ leash. We walked to the west in the cold bitter wind. As we walked up the walk back to our house, Ashley pulled up. I apparently startled her when she got out of the car and heard me talking to Olivia.
We hurried inside. It was cold. Ashley was in flip-flops and a light fleece shirt. Duh- it’s cold outside! Mindy and I decided to have a very simple dinner – chili dogs - no buns. I failed to mention that I called and checked on daughter Courtney before leaving work. She’s said to be doing well. That was a relief.
Before and after we ate I held Olivia. She loves hanging out with me. After dinner I got really sleepy, however, so Mindy took Olivia and held and played with her for about another hour. She had her totally relaxed when I came to. I guess I dozed for almost twenty minutes. Sometime around 8:15pm Ashley and Olivia left for home. But before Ashley left, she played a game of carpet hockey with Jacob. I could hear them down the basement. Ashley won something like 10-7. :)
The kids were already in bed. In fact, they were in bed before Ashley left. I spent the next half hour updating my blog and checking emails. I got official word from Bob to book the condo. I would do that tomorrow from work. Around 8:45pm, I popped some popcorn and moved to my reading chair. I read, ate, and dozed again. I woke near 9:30pm and headed straight to bed. Mindy stayed up and busy working on her students grade cards. Wouldn’t they be disappointed to know that Mindy lets me arbitrarily grade their papers and note their grades!
It seemed odd going to bed before and without Mindy. That has only happened a handful of times.
