An Olivia Day
I was up and downstairs by 5:40am. To my amazement, the sky was somewhat clear. I could actually see stars! Wahoo! That hasn’t been the case at least for 75% of the month. That alone helped elevate my mood. I carried that with me for the rest of the day.
I arrived to work a little late but as the day would unfold, that would become insignificant. Once again, I worked hard and was unusually busy.
For several reasons, I wasn’t able to escape for a run until after 1pm. But when I did it was refreshing. I was a little chilly but a bit warmer than the day before. With my gear I was comfortable. Our weather has been much more November like all month.
Upon my return to the office I encountered even more “stuff” to get involved with. And as it turned out, I wouldn’t see the parking lot until after 7pm. That used to be almost every night but not so much over the past two years. The most discouraging thing was that we had plans with Ashley and Olivia. They were coming over for dinner. I was looking forward to the visit. Instead, Mindy happily entertained them and even went ahead and ate without me, which I was happy they did.
When I arrived home I was exhausted. After dropping my gear I held Olivia which helped foster a calmer, gentler Jimmy. In the meantime, Mindy warmed my dinner. I had a cheese burger, salad, and green beans (we eat a lot of green beans). After eating I held Olivia some more. I ended up feeding her an entire bottle. It’s hard to believe that she’s a week old already! Ashley looked like she could fall asleep. I encouraged her to do so. She didn’t. She left somewhere near 9:00-9:30pm. I was happy they visited and hope to see more of my new angel.
Mindy and I laid by a roaring fire for another 45 minutes or so before heading to bed at 10pm sharp. Before rolling over and going to sleep we checked our blood pressure just as we do every night. Hers was something like 132/83 73 bpm. Mine was 127/66 47 bpm. Good night moon!
