Thursday, August 11

Thursday was a slow summer day. I planned and accomplished very little but did mange to complete a few minor tasks. I replaced my once lovely hanging petunia basket that had all but died despite my daily waterings. Unfortunately, if you miss just one day in the hot summer sun, it'll respond in kind. And I missed a day about two weeks ago and the foliage yellowed leaving only the purple flowers on long spiney stems. I drove up to Strader's and bought a flourishing geranium basket for only $6.50. They do exceptionally well in the hot sun and can typically go a few days without water. They should hold up just fine. I was suppose to go to Columbus State with Ashley to resolve her class schedule for fall quarter. it seems they won't allow her to register on line due to past "slackin". She didn't show - On Ashley!! During the hot afternoon I spent a few hours re-reading The Book of Secrets, written by Deepak Chopra. I am almost finished...again. What a great book! I have two other books waiting to be read, The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle, and Isaac Asimov's Book of Facts. At around 8PM I headed to my favorite watering hole, Barley's Smokehouse for a few brews. I was home by 1030PM.
