And We're Off!

Utah Bound!!

Up early – 6am. 2” inches of fresh snow fell in Columbus overnight. Woke Mindy then headed out for a 3 mile run on slippery walks and roads.

Dad came over to watch the kids until Jimaken and Molly could make it over. Expected them near 11am. Left the house for the airport at 750am.

Quick drive. Parked in Blue Lot – B-21. Check-in a snap. Through security and at our gate by 830am. Really hungry, we opted for breakfast at Chili’s near the entrance to the “A” terminal. Good food!

Tommy showed up shortly after we finished our breakfast and were headed back to the gate. Extremely easy fight into SLC. We stopped in Denver for a plane change. There no more than 50 minutes. I read from my Kindle for most of the flight.

Arrived in Salt Lake 20 minutes late, or around 150pm MT. Glenn sent a text sharing that his flight would be late too (about 30 minutes). David & Anita already on the ground and at the rented P.C. home.
Had our luggage and rental car by 250pm. A bit of a struggle carrying all of our gear from baggage claim to the rental pick-up. Ugh!!

I went for the minivan on my own while Tommy & Mindy waited for Glenn who was in but at a different baggage claim terminal. I first laid eyes on Glenn at the minivan. David sent a number of texts while I was driving from SLC to Park City. Finally handed Tommy my phone to have him call David. Super easy drive from SLC to PC. I-80 east to PC exit RT 224 – about 30 miles.

Canyons right off I-80 exit. Wal-Mart, Smith’s (west coast Kroger), and liquor store. David met us there. He and Anita had just left liquor store. We shopped for liquor and food together, though David had already bought a trunk full of goodies.

David lead us to the rented PC home, a few miles south of the freeway exit into old town PC which is just a couple blocks from the center of the PC ski resort. Cool! Since there were 4 bedrooms, everybody would have a bedroom to call their own. And there were 3 baths. Tommy & Glenn would share one.

Glenn presented Mindy with a fresh bouquet of Oregon “wedding” flowers. Nearly brought Mindy to tears. Brings them almost every year.

After an hour or so we were settled in. Opted to stay in and have home baked pizza for dinner. Before the pizza was all ready, David, Glenn and I walked to the PC ski resort lift area to get a better idea of the lay of the land in preparation for the following morning. Easy walk save for the steep flight of stairs one block from our rented home. Cool place. A real west coast ski village atmosphere. Gone no more than 20-25 minutes. Back at the condo for pizza and beer. Nobody was up later than 10pm Utah time. Mindy & Anita off to bed by 9pm.
