Meeting Richard Parker

Up near 7am and soon in my running attire. David was already up. Not used to other early risers. He shared that Anita was already out doing her daily 5 mile walk. We talked on the back deck overlooking the lake for a couple minutes before I headed off on my 3.2 mile run (David had the mileage calculated to the stop sign at the end of their road and back). Perfect for a vacation/weekend run trail. He warned that there are lots of hills. I didn’t pay attention on our drive in the evening before.

Passed Anita out front. The sun was just poking up over the hills to the east but the air already sultry/ sticky. I paced myself for the undulating terrain and actually did better than I expected. The hills weren’t as daunting as I thought they might be, but still enough to make one long for level terrain. Ideal, really. By the turnaround I had to briefly duck off into the woods to pee. Wondered what kind of wildlife I might be stepping into. Yikes!

Made it back to the lake house in one piece. I was sweat soaked head to toe, but otherwise felt terrific. Couldn’t wait for a cup of coffee. David already had a pot brewed and was kind enough to pick-up some of our favorite creamer – caramel macchiato. Yum! They even picked up the sweetener we like, too. – Truvia.

Took a cup to Mindy who was still in bed. David soon whipped up scrambled eggs and bacon. Yum! Great to be vacation and get spoiled. Mindy was up by 830am and enjoyed some eggs of her own. After breakfast, David and I went for a spin on the jet skis. Not your mommas jet skis. I mean these babies scoot - 52mph scoot! By 9-930am we were already throwing together provisions for a day on the lake. I love the fact that David is a little OCD/ADHD. He eagerly organizes everything. Mindy & I helped however we could.

Good thing we got out early. We played on the lake until 1pm, and about the time we opted to head back to the house for lunch a few clouds were moving in. Those few clouds eventually turned into heavy rain showers. We ate our leftovers and napped. The sun came out again around 3-330pm. We headed back out for another boat ride. This time we were out for only about 90 minutes. Clouds moved in again.

Back at the lake house David threw a couple Digorno pizzas in the oven after adding a few toppings of his own. Pizza was fabulous. After dinner, David &Anita put in the DVD, Life of Pi, which apparently won a few academy awards. I had heard of it but knew nothing of the storyline.

Took a while for the movie to grab my full attention but once it did, I was all in. Great movie. The message in brief. There are many paths that lead to God. The result is the same. You choose the story you like best. Mindy &I don’t watch too many movies at all, maybe 3 or 4 in a year, and almost all on PPV. Still, I recommend it that you watch this one. To bed afterwards.
