Last ski day:
Was up near 6am and at the gym by 7am. In between I enjoyed a quick cup of coffee and some internet. Did my 3 mile on the treadmill and then 40 curls. Watched Fox News while running. The talk was all about the financial sequester.
Back in the condo both Glenn and Tommy were up and out of bed. Glenn winced in pain almost every time he moved. Tommy took a shower while I made breakfast for the three of us (fried eggs and toasted English muffins). After breakfast I got a quick shower.
Glenn called the resort medical center to inquire about their services, if they did X-rays and if they took his insurance. Yes and yes. He didn’t plan to ski. Instead, he planned to walk over to the med center and get an X-ray of his right side. Tommy and I headed out to the ski lift at 1020am. Didn’t have any issues getting our Super Pass activated.
It was yet another blue bird ski day in Utah. Wahoo! Initially up Apex, we worked our way over to Moonbeam and then Powderhorn. We split up for a spit while I skied Challenger, a steep, but groomed black diamond. Tommy wisely stuck to the blues. After about 90 minutes, we made our way to the medical center to check on Glenn. Tommy guessed him done and back at the condo. In the medical center I asked if Glenn W. was there. They didn’t think so but offered that we take a look in all the beds. Nope, no Glenn to be found. Hmm?
We walked back towards the Apex lift where I immediately spotted Glenn walking towards us in his ski gear and his skis over his shoulder. Said he wanted to give it a go. Decided to skip the local X-rays in favor of getting them done once at home over the weekend. Tommy complained of tired/sore legs. Tommy talked about doing another easy run or two, but then heading back to the condo. Glenn and I did a couple blue runs before he declared himself ready for tougher terrain. We skied a steep double black diamond off Powderhorn.
Next, he and I headed up Sunrise and ultimately the Summit lift. We skied the Summit runs twice before heading back up again only this time skiing Honeycomb canyon, which was my favorite run in the park. He and I skied until 3pm when I declared my skiing over. I could’ve skied another hour but didn’t want to risk injury after an awesome week of skiing. Glenn opted to stay out and get in a few more runs. Found Tommy heading back at the foot of the village.
I cleared the snow from my skis so I could pack them for our Saturday departure. Tommy took his skis back to the rental center after going up to the condo to get his tennis shoes. He came back to the condo sharing that they offered to buy back his unused 5th day of skiing for $50. That was nice. Credited my card $50.
Over the next hour I packed for home, including all of my ski gear and then 90% of my street clothes. Spent the late afternoon and early evening relaxing, reading, and napping. Once Glenn was back, he headed down to the hot tub with a stiff drink. Tommy stayed back in the condo watching TV.
Headed to dinner at 730pm, once again heading to the Honeycomb Grille. This time I ordered a salad and a gourmet burger. My burger was excellent. Back to the condo by 830pm, I enjoyed a beer then headed to bed near 9pm. I watched a little TV while drifting off to sleep.
