Mindy @ 44

Happy 44th Mindy

I slept in until 540am. Woke feeling fairly well rested. Was surprised to see about an inch of snow covering the ground. We were expecting a fairly large snow storm but word had it not until 11am at the earliest.

I exercised, enjoyed coffee, and played on the internet. Woke Mindy around 615am, delivering her coffee and once again wishing her a happy birthday. Did meditation and a stretch then dressed for a run around 640am. Out the door a few minutes later. It was about 34 degrees and the temperature expected to reach about 38 or 39 that afternoon. The forecast was calling for 4-8” of snow by Wednesday morning, depending on how quickly any rain turned to snow. As it was, the light snow cover made the run quite comfortable under foot. I ran the full 4.1 miles.

Mindy had the Pilot warming by the time I returned home. She was coming out the door to depart just as I was heading in. Wished her happy birthday again. My eggs were waiting in the microwave. Hit them with high heat for about 10 seconds. Perfect! Bella and Makayla were at the table having breakfast too. They were digging all the fruit (blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple). After finishing my eggs I packed a plastic container full of fruit to take in my lunch. Mindy prepped me a vegetable salad the night before.

Off to the shower by 745am. Back downstairs to ready for the bus by 8am. I took the time to slice some cheese and baggie up some almonds. Me and the girls headed out at 810am. The bus was soon upon us. I didn’t have Eiknarf in tow. Didn’t show any signs of wanting to join us when we headed out. Back inside, I paid a couple bills then left for the office.

I joined a customer attended conference call shortly after arriving for work. The call went pretty well. Had another call with the same customer, but other contacts an hour or so later. That call was a recurring touch point call. That went well also. Texted Mindy the happy birthday song. Spent the rest of my day on monthly reporting.

Left for home around 515pm. Called Mindy shortly after pulling out of the lot. She was reheating the dinner she picked up from her mom’s. Also planning to leave to drop Bella at gymnastics. We also discussed calling and offering to take Lane McVey when picking her up later. His class begins when hers ends. Jacob was supposed to have his first spring soccer practice but it was cancelled due to weather, though we didn’t get any of the snow that was supposed to hit starting at 11am. Still forecasting snow, Mindy shared.

Once at home, I asked Mindy if she wanted me to take instead of pick-up. No. She said she wanted to relax and drink wine after dinner. She and Bella left shortly after my arrival home. I hadn’t seen hide nor hair of Jacob. I think he was in his room. While Mindy was away, I played around online. She wasn’t gone too long. We had dinner as soon as she returned. I’m thinking that was near 620pm.

We had Swiss steak, which is chopped steak smothered in a tomato based sauce. My mom used to make that too. We had Bob Evans mashed potatoes as well. It was all pretty good. I had a 2nd small helping of both the meat and potatoes. Dinner clean-up was a snap. I was done by 640. Mindy called Darwin asking if he wanted us to take Lane to gymnastics saving him the trouble. Yep! Mindy shared that I would be by to pick him up around 715pm. I figured that was plenty of time for me to relax and possibly even take a nap. As it was, I was feeling mighty sleepy after my dinner.
I sunk into the family chair where I eventually fell asleep. It was only for a few minutes but it felt terrific. Mindy woke me at 710pm to go after Lane and Bella. I quickly gathered up keys, my wallet and phone and headed out the door. It was raining. I planned to drive the Pilot since my Accord was all but out of gas. Didn’t have time to stop. I tried unsuccessfully to open the Pilot finally realizing that I had the Accord keys. I hurried back inside to get the Pilot keys. Mindy laughed at my silly mistake.

Arrived at the McVey’s at 715pm on the nose. Lane came running out. Waved to Darwin who thanked me from the porch. No prob! Lane and I talked gymnastics and skiing during the ten minute cruise. Shared how much he loves gymnastics. Said he’s been wanting to do it for years. We can tell. Word has it that he’s a natural, already elevated to advanced after just a month or so. Said his favorite vacation was to Lake Tahoe a few years back Had the time of his life. Hope to go again sometime soon.

Bella was just finishing up practice when we arrived. Got to see her mini tramp performance. Far better than it was in the fall - straight, high, and with a flip. Nice! She and I headed for home. Still raining.
Once at home, Mindy quickly dispatched Bella to the shower. I snuggled up in the family room chair with my book. It must’ve been around 830pm when Mindy mentioned that it sounded like ice hitting on the sky lights and roof. Yep! Fifteen minutes later it was all snow, and it was coming down hard, too. Had an inch or so in less than an hour.

Mindy sand the kids were off to bed ahead of me, but I wasn’t too far behind. It was still snowing like crazy when I headed for bed. By then there was more than 2 inches on the ground. My bet was that school would be cancelled the following day.
