Enjoyed coffee at the PC starting at around 630am until
almost 645am. Despite being on spring break, Mindy was up fairly early. I heard
her doing the shower thing. She was downstairs just as I was finishing up my
stretch routine. She looked puzzled seeing me there still in my PJs. I quickly
shared that I hadn’t yet left on my run. It had to be near 715am by the time I
was ready for my run. It was sunny but once again pretty close to freezing.
I decided even before hitting the trail that I was going to
pare my run back to only three miles. I was 45 minutes behind schedule. It was
a quality run and went by quickly. I was in good spirits, no doubt helped along
by the fact that it was Friday. Not sure the time when I got back, but quickly
leashed up the pug who was sitting at the front door seemingly waiting for my
return. Mindy uttered a few words but they went unrecognized until we were on
our way out the door. She repeated it again. She had already walked the pug.
Even still, she was pulling me off on our walk. What the heck. Though brief, I
went ahead and carried on with her second walk.
Mindy was keeping Bella home from school for a mother
daughter day. They planned on visiting COSI. She actually offered Jacob the
opportunity to go along too, but he declined citing his preference to go to
school. Said he doesn’t care for COSI. By the time I finished my eggs it was
after 8am and almost time for Jacob to catch the school bus. Mindy planned on
seeing him on the bus while I hit the shower. I saw the bus go by while I was
busy prepping for my shower.
I was downstairs and ready to go by 825am. Bella was yet up
and Mindy seemed in no hurry to wake her. The extra sleep would do her some
good after being ill most of the week. I left for work around 835am. When I
asked Mindy how long they’d be at COSI she said as long as Bella wanted. They
had nothing else planned after, though she did plan to take her to Tommy’s
Diner beforehand.
Since it was Friday, I took my iTouch along with me to work.
It was warming quickly. The short walk into the building was nice. Smelt like
spring. And with a weekend forecast calling for mid 70s and possibly even 80 on
Sunday, I was in a great mood.
My day was an extremely busy one. I had several irons in the
fire all at once. However, despite what seemed like too much to do I forced
myself to take a lunch and drove up to Performance Bicycles on Sawmill and
Snouffer to check out their BMX bike selection. I was disappointed to find that
they only had one model, an ugly Mongoose but twice the price as similar
Mongooses at Wal-Mart. Before heading back, I stopped in Pier 1 Imports right
next door just to browse. And then on the way home I popped in Wal-Mart to
review their BMX offerings. They had about four models I thought that Jacob
might like. I thought I might bring him back Sunday to check them out even
though he’s been pretty adamant about not getting a Wal-Mart bike.
Back to the office near 2pm, I picked up right where I left
off. I had all sorts of things going on at one time and more urgent issues
coming in all afternoon. Yikes! There’s
no doubt, I needed the weekend. I listened to music for most of the afternoon
which helped me keep things in their proper perspective. By the time late
afternoon rolled around it was like a morgue on the 6th floor. I
might’ve been the only one there. I got a lot done.
I left for home right at 530pm. It was still pretty nice and
warm but some thin cloud cover was moving in from the west after a completely
sunny day. I complained about the fading sunshine to Mindy during my drive
home. Mindy shared that her day with
Bella was awesome. They spent almost 5 hours at COSI together without feeling
rushed or like they had to negotiate. Bella pretty much got to do whatever she
wanted.
Rachel cleaned the house while Mindy and Bella were away all
day. It was nice coming home to a sparkling clean home. We firmed up our plans
to head to CBC but didn’t plan to leave for another hour or so. During the next
hour or so I updated my blog and opened my mail. We left for CBC at 645pm.
I was still in work mode, not yet able to let it go. Often
times a 10-15 minute nap is the perfect way for me to transition into the
weekend. For better or worse, that just didn’t happen. For the first time in a
long, long time, CBC wasn’t crowded in the restaurant or bar. Lots of parking
spots available. Kevin and Vince was tending bar. I ordered a Bodhi and Mindy a
glass of wine. By the way, Mindy agreed to drive sharing that she’d have only
one glass of wine while there.
It took a while for my head to move into weekend mode, but
the Bodhi sure helped. When asked if we wanted to order and food, Mindy ordered
bread and fried risotto. And that’s all we ate all evening long. I ended up
having 3 Bodhi’s and then ordered a growler of it to-go. And I picked up the
check.
Mindy phoned the neighbors once we were home to see what was up. It was just before 9pm. They were hanging out and invited us down. The O’Connell’s were there too. We took our pug and the growler of Bodhi with us. Chrissy confirmed calling hours for Kenny’s grandpa, which would be 2-6pm on Sunday. We planned to attend with the kids.
Probably 30 minutes after we showed up, Ben came in with an
assortment of tacos from taco trailer at Wilson
and West Broad St .
real, authentic Mexican style. There were several types, including beef tongue,
pig fat, and lamb. Mindy was really into them. I had a bite or two of each
kind. I wasn’t that hungry, but they were good.
Mindy and I didn’t hang out that late. I’m guessing that we
were home by 1030pm and quickly headed towards bed. Mindy had a breakfast date
planned with her bff, Teri.
