Does Eat Oats & Little Lambs Eat Ivy

I woke around 530am and then 5 or 6 more times before getting up for good around 745am. At the time I was so sure how I’d feel but felt pretty good once I brushed my teeth and found my way to the kitchen where I started a pot of coffee. At the time the sky was partly cloudy, but it had rained overnight. The deck was soaked.
Canada geese were walking across our back yard with their babies. Leaving the back door slightly cracked, I headed out on the wet deck with my b-b gun hoping, planning to shew them away. While  shooting at the geese, the neighbor's Jack Russell ran up the deck steps busting her behind along the way, but then forced the deck door open with her nose and headed inside our house looking for Eiknarf.
Eiknarf was still sleeping with Mindy. I chased Shamrock around the house until she finally gave up in her search and headed back out to meet her waiting brother. While the coffee finished brewing, I headed to my PC. It was done around 805am. I spent about an hour online before Mindy was up. She was up earlier than usual to meet Teri for breakfast in Worthington. I took Eiknarf on a walk while Mindy showered then readied for a run. Right now I can’t recall if I left for my run before or after Mindy left to meet Teri.
The sky was mostly cloudy with a few breaks of sun scattered in when I headed off on my run. It wouldn’t last. It sprinkled through the entire three mile run. Not quite sure what I was going to do with my day alone, the first thing I did was make a ham sandwich with the leftover Honey Baked ham. I even cut the scraps off the bone and gave them to Eiknarf.
The sprinkles stopped for the time being so I decided to head out front and work on scrapping the English ivy fingers off the trim. It’s a tedious task but worth the time spent. I did once before about ten years ago when I had the house trim redone. I gathered a myriad of tools: a putty knife, my Dewalt palm sander, green scrubbie, and a wire brush. I couldn’t remember for certain what worked best.
I’d already removed the ivy growing up the front of the garage roof line as well as that around the front entrance. I decided to work on the side lights of the front entrance first. Very quickly I found out that the putty knife did a good job initially, but it would take a combination of the putty knife, the wire brush, especially in the corners, and a wet green scrubbie. Slowly but surely I worked my way around the entrance until I had as much of the fingers removed as possible. It started to rain again around 1:30pm so instead of moving to the trim on the garage I decided to call it a day. As it was, I’d spent 3 hours working on the door. I’ll need to re-caulk a few of the recessed corners and then paint.

I breathed in lots dust made from tiny bits of ivy connectors and was covered in head to toe in it too. I headed in for a much needed shower. By the time my shower was done it was after 2pm. I wasn’t exactly sure what time to expect Mindy home but figured it soon. After a shower I snuggled up in the family room chair with my book and did some reading. It rained steadily from that point forward, rain I might add that we sorely needed.

Mindy got home just as I was getting sort of nappy from reading. She shared how her day went with Teri and then asked what I wanted to do that evening. Lindsey had been pinging her all day about doing her laundry. Mindy suggested she just bring it by Sunday while she and the boys got to Rosemary’s to celebrate Easter. That was we could still enjoy our alone time. I was noncommittal regarding what I wanted to do. As the afternoon turned into early evening Mindy asked a couple more times. We talked about hanging out with the Shultz’s but they weren’t home. We also talked about visiting Barley’s but that didn’t really sound that good. Eventually we simply agreed to stay home and order a pizza, something we haven’t done in a long time.

I’m thinking it was near 6pm when Mindy ordered the Minelli’s pizza, an extra-large, double pepperoni, double cheese. She had it delivered, too. Both of us had already enjoyed a drink or two. Neither of us wanted to drive. The pizza arrived after about 25-30 minutes. It was very good. Mindy commented that she can’t remember a better Minelli’s pizza. We ended up killing off about half the pie. At the same time I killed off what was left of the Bodhi growler, which amounted to slightly more than two beers. Once the Bodhi was gone I switched the White Rajah. I think I opened three of those as well. But sad to say, I didn’t come close to finishing the 3rd. Mindy headed up to bed around 10pm while I stayed up watching something on the knowledge channels.
