Kaileigh & Company
I slept a little late not at all wanting to get out of bed. Despite my desire for more sleep, come 540am I forced myself up and out of bed and into the master bath to brush my teeth. Unfortunately, I failed to prep coffee the night before so I had that to do before getting involved in calisthenics. That took just a few minutes. A glance out back revealed crystal clear skies and a moon just slightly larger than half.
In a weak moment before exercises I took a dive onto the sofa thinking I might grab another ten minutes of precious sleep. I closed my eyes but didn’t sleep. Popped up to start sit-ups near 555am. And it was 6am before I finished push-ups and poured a cup of coffee. I didn’t need to wake Mindy so I wasn’t too concerned about the time. I enjoyed coffee at the PC until almost 620am when I moved on to meditation and stretching.
Finished both of those around 640am then quickly dressed for a run in freshly laundered running clothes. It was in the lower 40s, so I wore gloves but skipped ear cover. I hit the running trail near 650am. I ran the full 4.1 mile track, the last three miles all in daylight.
I figured Mindy would be up getting the children ready for school when I got back and she was. I went for the pug and her leash then headed out the door on our walk. She took care of her business quickly. I think she wanted some eggs. Mindy made me a full blown ham & cheese omelet for a change. It was delicious. Enjoyed that along with some cut fruit and a glass of OJ. Bella had an egg too, but only fried.
Bella asked Mindy if she would see them on the bus. I see how you are! I headed up for a shower at 645am. It was almost time to catch the bus when I got back downstairs. Mindy asked if I was joining her and the kids. Yes. I handled the dog. Lillian and Makayla met us at the bus stop sharing immediately that their daddy was just in a wreck in his Jeep. Chrissy soon followed filling in the details. He was unharmed but very angry. Apparently some young girl cut across three lanes of traffic on I-70 east and ran into him.
The bus arrived on time. Chrissy was staying home with Jake, who she reported as sick. Mindy asked if she could borrow her carpet scrubber. We headed back to the house where I enjoyed another cup of coffee while chatting with Mindy. She didn’t have a lot planned for the day, just taking it easy. I only asked that she try and make the Easter candy go away from the kitchen counters. I left for work at 825am.
It was a nice, sunny drive into the office. Arrived near 545am. Took me a while to get situated and organized. Aside from the regular Monday conference call I spent a great deal of the day working on monthly reports. I skipped taking a formal lunch break choosing instead to work and eat. I’m covering for a peer for the week. Got involved in an escalation on his behalf towards the end of the day.
I was a little over whelmed by day’s end. Thankfully, I was still able to leave on time or just after 530pm. I hadn’t talked with Mindy all day. I called as I pulled out of the lot. She must’ve had me on speaker phone. It was hard to understand half of what she said. She was busy multitasking, including making dinner. Said something about Joey & Shelly stopping by to pick-up Easter baskets for the kids (Kaileigh, Sienna and Tripp). She hoped I was OK with that. Yes. Our conversation was brief so she could get back at it. I arrived home around 555pm. Could smell taco meat as soon as my sniffer made it inside the door. Yum! Jacob was already off to soccer practice and Bella out playing with Makayla. The house was sparkling. Mindy did quite a bit while home, including buying a mini carpet scrubber for spots and then using it in the kids rooms. She organized one of our most disorganized cabinets too. She had a few of the remnants for me to look through, including the old hot tub doco and then some old, expired credit cards. I cut them into bitty pieces and threw all of it away.
Wasn’t long before dinner was ready. Mindy asked that I call Bella inside. I went out front where I saw her earlier but she was no where to be found. Hollered out back too. Still no joy. Mindy called Kenny to see if she was down there. Nope. In fact, Kenny was looking for Makayla to come home for dinner too. Just then Bella came in the front door. Mindy sent Makayla home.
I opted to have hard tacos but nuked them half soft in the microwave. They were delicious! Hadn’t witnessed Bella eating tacos before. She ate most of one. Seemed to like it, though I finished the last couple bites. She was soon off to her room to ready for gymnastics while I managed clean-up. It wasn’t five minutes later that Shelly and the kids showed up minus Joey. But according to Shelly, Joey planned to meet her at our place shortly.
Hadn't seen Kaileigh since Xmas. She's getting so big, mature looking. And Sienna looks just like her. Mindy went right for Tripp. She loves holding babies. They weren't there too long before it was time to take Bella to gymnastics. I offered to do the drop so Mindy could keep visiting. Joey pulled up just as Bella and I were backing out. I said hello then left.
Dropped Bella at gymnastics right at 7pm. Returned home and joined the others still gathered in the kitchen. Joey. Shelly and the kids hung out maybe another 30 minutes. Joey talked about the impact of Courtney's recently announced pregnancy on Kaileigh. Going through a multitude of emotions.
Jimaken brought Jacob home from soccer practice around 745pm and a few minutes before Joey & Shelly left. Soon after they were gone I found my book and the big comfy chair. Mindy left to fetch Bella around 810pm. I read and napped over the course of the next 45 minutes. The kids wanted to watch Pawn Stars & American Pickers once Mindy was home. It was hard for me to concentrate and read with the TV going.
Much like the night before, Mindy peeled off for bed fairly early, and well before 10pm. I heard her get up, though, near 10pm and tell both kids to turn off their Kindles and get some sleep. I stayed up until something like 1030pm watching more American Pickers. It's addicting. I bright half moon lit up the sky at bedtime. Good night moon!
