Water Dude & Golf

Got myself back on track by being up a few minutes ahead of 530a. Why not? I was nicely rested after retiring to bed around 930p the night before. I fumbled through my start-up routine and was downstairs ready to exercise just as the coffee maker kicked into gear. After completing sit-ups, internet, and finally push-ups, it was still only 545a. I released Frankie from her pen then returned to my PC where I enjoyed some fresh coffee and read a few more headlines, most regarding the exciting Randy Moss trade. Come 555a I headed out with Frankie. She wandered a bit more than usual but still took care of things in no more than five minutes. No complaints from me. Back inside, it was time to shift gears. I completed meditation and stretching over the next 20+ minutes. Both went exceptionally well. I delivered the pug and coffee to Mindy, who was already up and just about to hop in the shower. She got angry with Frankie after she jumped on her leg apparently scratching her. I felt bad for Frankie. She was just happy to see her. I mean how would you like to come home and hug your master only to be yelled at for squeezing too tight?  I dressed and left for my run around 640a. For some reason, I was a little slow getting out the door. Not sure why. At any rate, it was quite nice – clear skies and about 50 degrees. Wore the same attire that’s served me well for the past week or so. I ran the full 4.1 mile track arriving back home around 720a. Mindy had fried eggs ready and waiting. Frankie was eager for me to sit down and eat. Why? She plans on getting some of my eggs everyday now. Does anyone else see a bad habit forming? She begs from Mindy too, although I don’t think she ever gives her any people food. We’ve started limiting her dog food consumption the past few days. We’re quickly learning why we see so many fat pugs. They’ll keep eating as long as food’s out and available. Mindy left for school at her usual time, and I was upstairs in the shower by 740a. I was ready five minutes ahead of our scheduled departure. Before heading out to the bus stop, I ran zone #1 of the irrigation system. The sod, I knew, could use the water, and I wanted to make sure the auxiliary meter was still working, too. After all, they were scheduled to come out and inspect it sometime during the work day. I remembered to take out the last of the duck bread for the kids. Glad to get rid of it. Jacob was out at the bus stop without a jacket and in shorts and shirtsleeves. After being so sick, one would think he’d be a little wiser. Guess not. I chose not to make a big deal about it in front of others. Kenny advised that he wouldn’t be able to join us for golf later in the day. Had to take a kid to soccer practice. The kids boarded the bus at the normal time. I walked Frankie a while longer then headed inside to make last minute preparations. I ran the dishwasher before leaving the house. I left through the garage grabbing my golf clubs on the way out. It was a gorgeous morning, although still a little chilly. Both vehicles were in need of gas. I drove the Trooper. I stopped at Thornton’s on my way into work. Took 18 gallons at $2.78 per. Work was very manageable. Bob I. and I made tentative plans to golf after work provided the day remained calm. Bob B. declared himself out. Something came up at home. I received a call from the city water department around 1115a saying they’d be there in 30 minutes. I left for home arriving around 1135a. The water dude was already there and reading both exterior meters when I pulled up. I headed inside. Once he finished outside I took him to the basement meters where he read both and checked the security seals. Gave me a brief education on how the meter work and how it might’ve gotten stuck. He wasn’t inside for more than five minutes. Said I’d have to call the customer service department to discuss the credit after they received his paperwork. That I already assumed. I took Frankie out back for a brief walk then headed back to the office. It was shaping up to be an exceptionally lovely afternoon. I was back at the office by 1205p. Because I badly wanted to leave early for golf, I didn’t even consider taking a lunch break, although like most days, I still ate some of my packed food. As 4p neared, Bob I. and I agreed to meet at Thornapple. Meanwhile, I held out hope that work would remain stable and quiet. At 410p I bolted the office giddy with excitement. Because it’s all back roads, it took 20+ minutes to get to Thornapple even though it’s not that far, maybe 7 miles. Bob was already there and waiting. He graciously picked up our green fees, which were $17 each with cart. Not bad. We tee’d off #1. I started well, and really, save for the two par three’s, played good throughout. I was driving well and hitting my new irons really well. Putting wasn’t bad either. I had a couple near miss three putts, but that’s golf. I’m guessing I shot a 46 or 47. The two 5’s I took on the par 3's killed my overall score. We finished at 633p. The sun was still shining bright. Very nice evening. During golf, Bob and I spent a lot of time talking about skiing. I think both of us were stoked for the coming ski season by the time we finished golf. Bring on the snow! I called Mindy, who along with the kids was dining at the Texas Roadhouse just up the road. Said they’d be no more than ten more minutes. I decided not to bother joining them. At home I had enough time to prep Friday’s coffee and put my stuff away before the kids and Mindy got home. I had just put leftover chicken & noodles in the microwave for warming when they walked in the door. I snacked on hummus and pita chips, too. The hummus had mold on the edges, but the middle was still quite good. Mindy advised that it contains no preservatives and therefore doesn’t keep long. I felt satisfied after finishing my noodles. We were all in our PJ’s by 8p. I joined the Thursday night college football game soon after. It was Nebraska vs. Kansas State. I was close to drifting off to sleep numerous times, including just before heading up to tuck in the kids. Mindy headed for bed around 930p asking if I was joining her then or later. Later. I wanted to relax and watch more football. She hadn’t been gone five minutes when I got my second wind and headed to my PC to update my blog. Of course, it didn’t hurt that Frankie was lying beside me on the couch making some obnoxious noises while chewing her rawhide thingy. I had to escape that sound! I can go nowhere without Frankie following. Not only did she follow me to my PC, but she eventually brought her rawhide in too.  I got my blog updated after about 20-30 minutes, even got a couple pictures added. After a few more minutes of football, it was time for Jimmy to head to bed. Good night Frankie, and good night dark moon!
